Sold my 3GS for a BlackBerry Storm 2

Before you guys come in here and flame me, I'm not bashing the iPhone. I was an iPhone user for almost a year and a half and I loved it. I just felt like I needed a change, and my friends all have BlackBerries and were telling me how cool BBM is. Which I will admit, it's a nice feature to have, and I like having chat rooms with a bunch of friends from my phone, it's really fun.

So I got the Storm2 yesterday and it was very confusing to use at first, since I've never owned a BlackBerry before. But I'm getting used to it, and it's actually not that bad.

However, I do miss my iPhone. I'm going to give the Storm 2 some more time, but I'm still contemplating returning it next week when the Droid comes out, or maybe just going back to the 3GS. I just hope Apple can find a way to fix battery life on the iPhone and maybe provide some new-looking software.

For me, the iPhone is one of the greatest gadgets ever invented (seriously). I really see very few flaws with it.

BUT...I'll be dropping it for the Droid next week.

Why? AT&T is the most piss-poor POS I've ever been associated with and I need an actual cell phone...not just a gadget.
 
I just thought it over and here's what you need to do:

Get another iPhone.
Let BB friends tinker with it and realize what they're missing.
Download one of many iPhone to iPhone BBM wannabes.
Rejoice.

Seriously, leaving iPhone is not an option. If Apple can't have you, no one can.
 
Y would you buy a phone just for BBM? You're spending hundreds of dollars just for an instant messaging program when teh iphone delivers much more value for the price.

Also, with Iphone threaded SMS, it's kinda like "chatting" with the other person anyways.

Cool. I hear the Storm 2 is a much improved phone over the original Storm. I hope you enjoy it.

Although, I still don't see the point of coming here and telling us about your phone choice. Maybe you should save this for your Twitter account or Facebook.:p
 
I think this all just some kind of sick joke :rolleyes:

I came from the blackberry storm to the iphone, night and day, night and day. The software on the storm really didn't compare to the polished feel of the iphone OS. Though maybe RIM has fixed that "we just hacked this together in a few hours" feel with the 5.0 upgrade, only time will tell.
 
Battery life isn't the biggest issue for me with the iphone. Its email. :rolleyes:

I'm enjoying my BlackBerry Curve right now as well.

The email is fantastic and that is the most important feature to me right now. :D

To everyone who says "I wouldn't bother coming on here to tell everyone", you kind of need to ****.

I'm just giving some insight to people who might be interested in something else aside from their iPhone on what it is like. It's a discussion board, if you don't like this discussion, kindly hit the back button on your browser and find a thread in which you can use your words to contribute something useful.

Yet some of you feel the need to post everytime you buy a new case for your phone. :rolleyes:
 
I was looking for into on the Blackberry Storm 2 and the first site that popped into Google was Macrumors.com/iphone.
 
3GS -> Storm 2 is a massive leap backwards unless you're a business email power user.
 
I had a BB Storm and have a 3GS now. All I can say is wow, I thought my Storm was fast but the 3GS blows it out the water.

Also At&T is working fine for me and is working places Verizon wouldn't work for me.
 
What you should have done is purchsed whatsapp for 99cents and had your boys do the same for bb as well and in a few months you all will be chatting with each other.. Like you all had BB's or iPhones..

Lots of problems have been solved by research.. I dont know how anyone can dump the iPhone for a BB just for BBM with Whatsapp sitting in the appstore.. or even at all.. its like going back to the hoopty from the Benz..
 
If a big selling point of Blackberry is that you can go into a chatroom with all your friends, I can only imagine you are a 13 year old girl.
 
OP, I wish you luck with your BB Storm, however you seem very open to jumping onto Droid, and perhaps back to the Iphone. While it's your choice to try out as many phones as you'd like, it's also quite a taxing experience to go and switch carriers and phones like you may need to do.

BBM is a cool feature no doubt, but you are also swallowing a much weaker web browser and the inability to download podcasts with a stroke of your finger. Of course, it depends on how important these features to you, but after playing with a storm for an hour, I ran from the Verizon store and snatched up an Iphone at my local Apple retail store. And it was the best decision I've made in years purchase wise.

Lastly, there is no way you can post about wanting a competitor's product over a Mac product in these forums and not expect a little huffing and puffing from our members. It's the nature of the beast. This is a Mac favored forum, and there will always be members who will blast you for picking something over a Mac alternative. You should know better than to get upset if that happens here.
 
Also dont Blackberrys have issues with memory ? Meaning that you have to pull the battery every once in a while. And plus what if you want to install a bunch of apps, im pretty sure that you can install on the SD card and the preinstalled memory is kind of low compare to the Iphones all in one memory ....
hey i thought about the BB Storm 2 as well for the backround apps that run but i realize its not worth it... I have 32 Gig on my iphone to do what i want and dont have to worry about battery pulls.

I love the email exchange program on the iphone! I have it pushing my emails from my work server directly to my phone and it works great. My buddy at work has the same work email on his BB and honestly I like how it's displayed better on the iphone then on his BB. Personal pref I guess....
 
I've made a similar move as the OP but with a Bold. There are things about it and Blackberries in general that are leaps and bounds ahead of the iPhone. As does the iPhone. The addage of BB for business and iPhone for consumers is a stereotype that does ring of truth.

I've been swapping my sim between a bold and a 3gs, using mainly the Bold. As much as I love the iPhone both as a piece of a hardware and a UI, I am leaning toward the BB OS because of the physical keyboard, superior email client (not in looks of course but functionality), true multiple-tasking, notifications and the keyboard. And the only reason these are so importantly is because I need my smartphone to be first and foremost a work device.

If my job wasn't so email heavy I would for sure stick with the 3GS. It's easy to miss the vastly superior browser, huge screen, superior camera (especially video which is horrible on the bold) and the UI. The Blackberry UI is very simple but it serves the hardware well.

But I say all this in a post about the Storm, a phone I would probably never own. The real keyboard is what the BB is all about to me. But if it's your thing that's great- Blackberries are a great productivity tool.
