To everyone who says "I wouldn't bother coming on here to tell everyone", you kind of need to ****.

I'm just giving some insight to people who might be interested in something else aside from their iPhone on what it is like. It's a discussion board, if you don't like this discussion, kindly hit the back button on your browser and find a thread in which you can use your words to contribute something useful.

Yet some of you feel the need to post everytime you buy a new case for your phone.

yes because this is an iphone forum, where iphone case reviews are useful

this is not a blackberry forum

don't let the door hit you on the way out

Battery life isn't the biggest issue for me with the iphone. Its email.

I'm enjoying my BlackBerry Curve right now as well.

The email is fantastic and that is the most important feature to me right now. :D

I am leaning toward the BB OS because of the ... superior email client (not in looks of course but functionality)...

What's so great about bb email? A few of the things I don't like about it:
- can't select (copy) forwarded text
- can't select multiple messages unless they're sequential
- doesn't render html properly (when emails have images, the bb wraps the email strangely so nothing lines up how it should)
- scrolling through long messages is far harder than on the iphone (though this is an inherent flaw of the scroll ball system)

If you're talking about the integration with BES then Ok, that's really good. But the client itself is nowhere near the iphone's.

@Anthony T,

You're first priority WILL/SHOULD be to find software that offers the same functionality/features you had in at least 50% of the apps on your previous device 3GS. This will be the same for EVERYONE thinking of switching to another platform or company's wares.

Next you need to check in settings to see if you can enable the dynamic memory management: specifically when low which apps to close. Over increased uptime you're going to rely on this.

Take note:
1. Not all apps have a Switch Application listing, so you may have to EXIT apps in order to switch (ie. YahooGo 2+3 had this on the keyboard based models)

2. Think twice before enabling BES email provisioning on your BB - if they allow it - because if they remotely wipe it > the IT Policy is usually left on: there are ways around this; also this may prevent you for HRT with your provider for use - not often but I've seen this happen a few times in the past.

3. when setting up multiple emails be CERTAIN you know which email address you're composing from. This is pretty clear on the iPhone, but less so as unified messaging is growing on Android platforms; again we'll see how this pans out.

4. You've fallen into the BBM-slavery and you'll be addicted to it. I just hope all your friends don't upgrade so quickly to a similar or equal upcoming Android/Google IM feature. Something I'm VERY surprised, nah, appalled they have NOT implemented yet!

Either way, enjoy your new device.

3GS -> Storm 2 is a massive leap backwards unless you're a business email power user.

I'll agree on this - only for those coming to the platform for the first time. those already addicted to touch screen and BBM this IS their only option.

I don't get threads and posts like this. You KNOW this is a forum for Apple fans, so you're obviously bound to get **** for praising a competitor's product. If the switch is best for you, that's great; but don't expect everyone to say "Congrats!"

But then again, there can be rational discussion about the iPhone in comparison to competitors.

For me personally, I had do make the switch to a BlackBerry from my beloved iPhone for a couple of reasons...

One was the piss-poor AT&T service, from dropped calls to sh**ty in-building coverage. And since there's no such thing as a Verizon iPhone, I had to switch to another platform. I require reliable cell service (I'm a physician) and AT&T just isn't good enough. With the iPhone, I'd drop calls continuously. I have yet to drop a call on my Verizon BlackBerry, except for once... when I was speaking to someone using an iPhone at the other end.

The other is BES integration with work. Too important for me, and the lack of encrypted Exchange support across the iPhone line means IT wont allow them to connect.

I had a Verizon BB Tour. Nothing to write home about but it was functional. Traded up to a Storm 2 a few days ago and I'm much happier. Very iPhone-ish in terms of responsiveness (not as fast as a 3GS, but easily keeps up with a standard iPhone 3G). And the new hardware and OS 5.0 has flick kinetic scrolling and other animations that make it much nicer to use than the older Storm 1. And there are several other refinements in the new OS that are beyond discussion here but are very, very nice for the BlackBerry fan. And the new piezoelectric click screen is pretty nice - way better than the mechanical screen of the first Storm. Plus, all the apps I used on the iPhone save but a few have BlackBerry equivalents or aren't needed at all (a To Do manager).

Decent media player, good camera and overall similar battery life to the iPhone.

While I still wish I could use my iPhone, I'm more than satisfied with the Storm 2.

I think this all just some kind of sick joke

I came from the blackberry storm to the iphone, night and day, night and day. The software on the storm really didn't compare to the polished feel of the iphone OS. Though maybe RIM has fixed that "we just hacked this together in a few hours" feel with the 5.0 upgrade, only time will tell.

Agreed, I did the same. And another thing - my Exchange account cost UKP 20/pm to host on BB's BES service, whereas the iPhone's ActiveSync support delivers the same real time OTA sync (OK, except Notes) as BES for UKP 5/pm.

There's no going back to BB now.

I dont necessarily NEED to see the images in the email. Most of its just plain text.

I like it better. I stated my opinion. Move on.

I'm sorry, but you're all severely blowing it. Hopefully AT&T will take you back with a ETF and termination on your accounts.

Before you guys come in here and flame me, I'm not bashing the iPhone. I was an iPhone user for almost a year and a half and I loved it. I just felt like I needed a change, and my friends all have BlackBerries and were telling me how cool BBM is. Which I will admit, it's a nice feature to have, and I like having chat rooms with a bunch of friends from my phone, it's really fun.

So I got the Storm2 yesterday and it was very confusing to use at first, since I've never owned a BlackBerry before. But I'm getting used to it, and it's actually not that bad.

However, I do miss my iPhone. I'm going to give the Storm 2 some more time, but I'm still contemplating returning it next week when the Droid comes out, or maybe just going back to the 3GS. I just hope Apple can find a way to fix battery life on the iPhone and maybe provide some new-looking software.

hahahaha fail of the day

I understand. Yes, iPhone is great and all, but I'd be very tempted to switch if all or most of my close friends use BB.

Jailbreak it and you have litterally hundreds of different looking softwares, themes, etc

Ok.....

I read recently that iphone is closing rapidly on RIM's market share in their target corporate type email market so be prepared to sell it again. Good luck with it, no seriously.

People say that BB has a superior mail client but where I work I can do things that the officialy supported BB users can't. For example if I delete an email from my iphone, seconds later in real time it deletes from my PC's inbox. I did this in front of a BB user and he said mine doesn't do that and asking around it seems they can't. My calendar syncs right over from exchange, I get meeting requests -the lot. And its not officially supported by our company so iphone users use the very inferior gateway into exchange not the fully featured and configured BB uses have. But more and more people are realising IT don't have a clue (they are still thinking of moving over from windows 2000 - to XP!!!! and are three releases behind on the main software packages we use) are using them and finding them better than BB. So honestly I don't buy this superior BB email client thing as I see no evidence of it.

Ok, first, "you don't necessarily need to see images?" Um, Ok. This sounds like what iphone users said before it had MMS or C/C/P. It's an obvious flaw. Maybe one you can live with (I certainly lived with the iphone before it had those things), but definitely a flaw.

Second, I asked a serious question. Everyone worships BB for email. In fact, a lot of people just treat it as a given that BB is better than iphone for email. Now, in *my* experience, BB email is harder to use and less sophisticated than iphone email (though the iphone certainly has its flaws too - like no unified inbox? no different signatures for different accounts? Come on apple). Since you disagree, I'm wondering if you can explain your position. That's generally how things work on discussion forums - we discuss.

I guess it's not a total loss since you can still get a Droid without incurring any fees...

BBM is a nice thing that I wish Apple would implement for the iPhone. Free iPhone text messaging from iPhone to iPhone. Big companies would dig them for their employees.
