I'd be careful with Aurora Feint if I were you. The latest update does something with the iPhones memory. You have already probably gotten low memory warnings haven't you?

I'd delete that crap if I were you.

Not true...mine is fine and has no memory problems. It works, backs up and does not cause any issues. Must be something with your iPhone or system.

Sorry

Play it everyday for at least 2 hours...no problems on my original iPhone

Sorry

I'm not the only one it is happening to. We'll just wait and see if anyone else reports the same here.

How much free space do you have on your phone. I have 2.5 gigs, got the low memory warning while playing right after the update. Nothing wrong with my phone. Deleted app....no more warnings.

I'm reading a lot of positive reviews of flipbook here. Whats the deal with it anyway? You draw stuff and it animates it?

Oh, I forgot to add that I am using "Things" to manage tasks at work. Great app and will be even greater once they release the next update that allows syncing with desktop.

Hey Bear...After someone says there is a problem with anything iPhone related that pertains to me, I start doing some testing.

First, I will note that I did not have a memory problem as you stated and that is why I replied.

These are the results of my test:

Before Sync w/AF on iPhone...iTunes= 973.7mb remaining (have 8gig)
iPhone=973 mb remaining
Uninstalled from iPhone...iTunes=1001 mb remaining
iPhone=1000 mb remaining
Reinstalled to iPhone...iTunes=971.5 mb remaining
iPhone=971 mb remaining
Size of Aurora Faint=24.1 mb

There is a little discrepancy here from 1-4 mb but that could be anything during the sync not necessarily a problem in stealing space with the game, there maybe a small amount of memory leak, not sure.

However, with the testing, their is definitely a problem. The game would not uninstall at all, I had to delete it from the iPhone. It then re-installed fine. I then decided to uninstall again and it would not for the second time. So I deleted it again and then re-downloaded from App Store. Now it will not install period. They definitely have some bugs and there may be a small amount of memory leak, that may be more so on yours.

Just thought I would let you know and say you may have something, but now I don't have Aurora Faint :( cause it won't reload.

Thanks brother...your pretty thorough. There are actually a few apps that iTunes will not uninstall...Some of the ones I know about are as follows:

Box Office
Urban Spoon
Peg Jump
AP Mobile News (I think...can't remember for sure)

...but I do agree there is something up with AF. I'm going to wait for the developer to acknowledge and fix the problem before I download again. Other people have reported that after using the updated AF that Netshare doesn't work right. My experience has been Teleport not working right after the AF update (since I don't have Netshare). Makes you wonder if there is something happening in the background.

While iam not 100% sure on this, the "Low Memory" warnings that Aurora Feint gives out have nothing to do with actual storage capacity on your iPhone's flash memory...iam pretty sure it's referring to the amount of RAM free on your phone, as AF takes up a huge amount of resources to run, and most likely the game has a small memory leak that needs to be addressed. If you keep playing after the warnings, it's possible that the game will continue to run fine for 1-2 hours+, or crash within the next 15 minutes...at least from my experience.

The only remedy for this is to restart your iphone and then play AF fresh, at least until this issue gets resolved. It is a software/game issue, not a phone one.

While I already mentioned a few of my favorites above I'll also add Flipbook, got it last night and it is quite enjoyable.

I would encourage you all to give Cubes a go.

I tried the free Cubes Lite and enjoyed it so much I payed the massive £1.79 (or whatever it was) for the full version.

Hey Guys,
I'm one of the developers on Aurora Feint. Archer notified me of the results of his test with hard drive space. I thought I'd just chime in here to give an official "What's going on?" for everyone.

That dialog that pops up is triggered by Aurora Feint -- not automatically by the iPhone OS. I put it in as a courtesy to let you know that the game may crash momentarily because your phone is low on free System RAM. We use a lot of ram and various applications have memory leaks (including AF). Unfortunately, the leaks that we've verified in AF are due to leaks in the iPhone libraries that we can't fix! Hopefully they will be addressed by apple whenever they release another update.

The hard drive space change that Archer measured is due to our save game files. We save four files in the Documents sub-folder of Aurora Feint.
1) Your account data including character name and level stats
2) The current state of the game (for example, the current configuration of the grid)
3) The state of the main menu (which tab you're on, whether it's open, etc.)
4) General game state unrelated to the specific game mode (such as what step of the intro tutorial you are on)

On my test platform I see them using a total of 16KB. It's possible that while Archer was running his test other applications were executing and manipulating hard drive state (such as crash logs being written or the iPod). So I can't account for the total 3MB.

Anyway, I just want to remind you that the worst AF can do is lose your AF related data or require you to reboot your phone (due to those memory leaks related to streaming audio). It cannot affect the integrity of your device.

Feel free to e-mail or respond to my post here, and I'll check back periodically.

Thanks for playing everyone!

Jason,

Thanks for responding to my email. Glad it is nothing to serious. However, alot of people on a lot of threads are getting this message that pops up about memory being low. It is popping for other apps in addition to AF, this included Teleport for me today. Shouldn't it be confined to just your app and not all apps?

Just thought I would check, do you have any more updates at apple for approval or are we using this one for awhile?

Again, great to know that you are involved and keeping us informed, I really miss the game today.
