That too, is pretty much redundant and highly predictable, don't you think? The Samsung S6/Edge design is heavily inspired by the iPhone 6 and pretty much follows similar design patterns that iPhone users already are accustomed to. The Samsung S6 Edge in particular sports the best aesthetics that currently exist on a phone, surpassing the iPhone 6's design, in my opinion. The regular S6 is on par, not worse, not better looking, whereas the S6 Edge tops them all at this time. I think quite a lot of gadget (and iPhone) geeks feel that way, if these forums are anything to go by.

I wouldn't say it's heavily inspired by the iPhone at all. I was always baffled how anyone could say the s6 looks like the iPhone at all except for maybe the bottom which does kind look like the iPhone. Otherwise the only similarities are the same as any other smartphone. Heck the iPhone looks MUCH more like a HTC smartphone with the aluminum and antenna lines.

BUt in relation to what you're saying I think it's simply a matter of quality, that feel in the hand that the iPhones have but Samsung hasn't had yet until now. At least external hardware quality, fit finish and build.

That could well be too - although that could counteract those who say that "Apple fans" have no idea of hardware whatsoever while your statement implies that Apple makes high end devices.

Apple does make high end devices. Anyone who says Apple fans have no idea of hardware whatsoever is a moron. That's true really of any consumer electronic where there is a certain mix of consumers. I know tons of Apple owners who are highly technical, and many android owners who want nothing to do with technology.

I do feel it's inspired. "Heavily" is probably too strong a term, but Samsung has shifted from generic towards a much more elegant and premium design convention that can compete with - and in the case of the Edge - surpass the beautiful visual appeal of Apple and HTC's premium models. And you're absolutely right, I do think that Apple have also been inspired by HTC's flagship.

For people like me who enjoy iOS and Android alike and value aesthetically appealing gadgets, Samsung's change in direction is an absolute win.

Yeah I agree, it's a win win for everyone. I've long admired the fit and finish of Apple's hardware and am glad that these last few years everyone else is catching up.
