I upgraded my 11in M4 iPad Pro last week to 18.0 Release Candidate and it went fine. No prompts to upgrade today, so I assume it was the same build that went out today. The only problem I had was that it was telling me my iPad's display was not genuine after that upgrade, (it's an unmodified launch day unit) but today after shutting down and restarting the iPad it's no longer complaining about the display anymore.

ipad pro m4 11" i updated from iPadOS 17 to iPadOS 18 via OTA no issues.

Then i tried to perform a clean ios 18 installation result? brick device.

Fortunately i could downgraded iPadOS 17 via ipsw.

God bless them.

This is why I always wait. I wonder if hooking it up to a computer will fix it.
I've always waited too man.

Last year with ios 17 i didn't update till ios 17.1

But this year there has been tons and tons of iOS 18.0 betas that made me go for it this time..... sigh.

Apparently people nowadays are more lazy regarding a clean ios installation each time a new brand new iOS X is released. They just update over the old update and forget about it, if that wasn't the case the problem would be more widespread right now.

Updating to iPadOS 18 bricked my 13" M4 iPad Pro. At first the update was going well. The update downloaded and verified. During installation I saw the Apple logo and the progress bar. Then the display went black. I chatted with Apple support who had me do the hard reset (Quick press on volume buttons then hold power button). That didn't work. Then I talked with a senior tech who also had me try the hard reset to no avail. He scheduled a visit to the Genius Bar. Brought it to the Apple Store, and they're sending me a new one. The Apple Tech said he thought it was a hardware failure.

I never set up new, it’s not being lazy, I don’t see any advantages and it’s just redundant to move everything back after clean install.

i have an ipad pro m2 here, any bricking issues with those devices? already found a glitch where the calculator button labels are extremely tiny, hope they release a 17.0.1 update soon.
