So, everything went okay and that is luck?No issues on my end. Guess I got lucky.
It's a glass half full / half empty POV.So, everything went okay and that is luck?
I did. It successfully updated to 17.7 but failed updating to 18.0.Did you try 17.7 update first before upgrading to iPadOS 18.0?
Updated my 13” M4 iPad Pro yesterday with zero issues. The only issue I‘ve encountered was with an unresponsive Smart Stack a few hours ago. Swiping the stack was like swiping the screen background and would invoke spotlight. I edited the Home Screen to delete the old widget and add a replacement, but the Done button became unresponsive and I could not exit editing mode mode or move from that editing screen using taps, swipes or button presses. The device was totally unresponsive, so I tried pressing and holding the power button and volume up button which seemed unresponsive at first, but several seconds later the device appeared to suffer a springboard failure which thankfully terminated the Home Screen editing. I was then able to add the new Smart Stack. I’ve had no problem since but that unresponsive screen felt like a momentary bricking. I’m sure Apple will release an update to fix any issues soon.Heads up, a number of users are Reddit are reporting bricked M4 Ipad pro's, both 11 and 13 inch.
11" Pro M4 256 Wifi here and I'm bricked
Even with multiple beta versions the amount of actual testers is going to be drastically smaller than the number of users when they release it to the whole world. I'm really curious to see if we get learn what the cause is eventually. How does something of this magnitude happen with so many beta versions of iPad OS 18 over the past few months. Just blows my mind. Any speculation on what might be causing it? Something specific to the M4 chip? This kind of thing fascinates me.
