Seriously pple quit it with the iPhone sightings talk. No one is gonna believe unless you have pics....non photoshopped pics or video

You probably saw a Prada phone.

I think it probably was an iPhone. In order to release the iPhone Apple has to do real world tests to make sure the thing actually works. And who better to give it to than a senior officer? The iPhone is slated for release in a little more than a month so there have to be some somewhere.

They are out there. From Apple SHareholders Meeting...

“We’re beginners and we have a lot to learn,” said Jobs. “The market is large and the opportunities are great. A few of us have been using the iPhone a lot and if you wanted it back, you would have to pry it from our dead hands.”

Why do people automatically assume the OP is lying? That's not really fair. He hasn't made any wild accusations about new features or anything, he's just stated that he's seen one.

He may be lying, we don't know, but give the guy a break and give him the benefit of the doubt.

And anyway, you must be complete losers if you walk around airport departure lounges with your camera poised just in case you see someone with an iPhone.

I doubt the OP thought... oh iPhone, quick get my Nikon D80 out and set it up on a tripod so I can get a shot just for the doubting Toms over at MacRumors.

Gosh, give the guy a break. He has nothing to gain from seeing a man with an iPhone, so why should it matter to you if he's telling the truth or not.

You sure it wasn't a new touch screen BS meter? I've got one right here and it's going nuts!

Looks like we finally know what the hidden app is on the iPhone...

LOL:D

I can't recall being so entertained by a thread like this one.:)

I think we should bring it back to life after the iPhone comes out and post pictures of people in airports using their iPhones.;)

Because that what we want him to do...not ask the man about it, or grap a quick pic with a camera phone

Danny Glover isn't the VP of a huge corporation.

Apple definitely has a corporate jet or two. And I'd find it rather surprising if Steve or anyone else at the top of the company set foot on a commercial jet as long as they're employed by Apple.

For personal travel? Jets are not cheap, the turbine costs, fuel costs and just the plane costs are enormous. The engines need service which is expensive, the airframe can only take so many takeoff/landings. Add in the pilot and you have a huge expense.

Danny Glover would make more money if he would have stayed away from making some bad movies.

I wonder with the hype and buzz surrounding the iPhone that Apple would risk having them out in public with the risk of them being lost or outright stolen before officially being released. I understand the fact that they want to gain real world use, but I wonder what the ramifications would be should an iPhone turn up missing.

Not much. The E90 from Nokia isn’t out, there are plenty of prototypes that are in the hands of people outside of Nokia. This is common practice. AT&T has quite a few pre-production phones.

If one got lost, Apple could add it to the blacklist that most carriers use. The phone won’t work. Also, the phone probably has to authenticate itself to get software updates. So the phone won’t be updateable.

The ramifications are not as high as you think they are.

The carriers are the ones that do the testing. When you buy a branded phone, it was the carrier that tested it and told the manufacturer what they want.

I highly doubt that in this case.

Guess again. When Apple sells the iPhone to other carriers, there will be some tweaks to it. I worked in the wireless industry for over a decade.

AT&T has already given an iPhone away. So there is one out to the public right now.

I really hope T-Mobile dont get the UK contract. Also if there are any iphones outside of the US what networks would they be running. There must be atleast one in the UK somewhere.
