I'd say it was you that took it too seriously. Why'd it bother you so much that he didn't like the iPhone? Had you not taken that so seriously, you could have simply said "okay", and moved on. Instead, for some reason you saw that as a challenge. It would seem you have just as much emotional attachment to your phone as he does, if not more.

Simply due to the fact that a lot of people buy, sell, and trade phones on Craigslist yet don't cop up to it. I understand people may like or dislike something but I get curious as most all phones on the market do all the same things all just a bit differently. Much like how a Subaru STI or Mitsubushi Evo can stand up to a simple V8 Camaro or otherwise.

Two entirely different means of high performance but in the end a car still does a basic thing. Gets you around to where you need to be. How fast you need to get there is always the choice of the owners preference.

That is also a huge can of worms as people have a passion for their car at times and I respect that, I also would expect the same respect on what I drive.

I was curious about the odd reply and was wondering why this individual thought this way within some reason, not to burst out like Apple took away his kitten or crapped on his front lawn.

A good example for me is I dislike the Pokemon games, I could never get an idea why they sell well, so I got my nephews Game Boy SP and one of the older games Pokémon Red IIRC.

Being at my age it was no excuse, I still play my old N64 just as much as I enjoy Skyrim on my PS3. So I tried my best at bending my brain around this little wildly popular Game Boy game.

Roaming around the various towns and such suggested a old school JRPG so I set about trying to learn the mechanics of the game and just couldn't understand it. I don't hate it, it's just not for me. That doesn't mean I'm going to rave about how Pokémon sucks and Nintendo likewise etc. I own the original Wii system and love it...

For the sake of a game I don't understand doesn't mean I'm going to damn the game and Nintendo for publishing it. It's selling well and that is a great thing for the fans who want more content and new ways to enjoy the franchise.

Overall for the short attention span theatre;

I like to know with reasonable thought why someone must choose a product or brand and without reason, hate everything else with no logical reasoning behind that thought process.

If you absolutely hate something with no logical reasoning behind it all, why? Is it impossible to explain?

That is the irony. I'd venture the other person in that conversation, of which I read maybe 3%, did not go and start a thread about it in an internet forum. Enough said. :)

Michael

I posted here to get some logical reasoning behind blind hate for a product any why.

The other party had chosen to go to the local rants and raves section on Craigslist. There, nobody cared.

All were too busy complaining about racial issues and immigrants. Guess there is little logic to be found here either.

In the end, in his fit of rage had my ad flagged down with the help of his friends who must all hate apple as a "me too" campaign bandwagon you quickly jumped aboard to fit in with the rest of the crowd.

With the S3, I've never had any SD problems with stock TW. I use a Sandisk class-10 64gb card.

Custom Roms is a differ story. I ran into several popular custom roms that corrupted my card instantly. Data not recoverable and format needed. This is why I back up my card before I try out any rom, just incase.

I've always used FAT format.

At last! Someone with a brain that didn't jump blindly on the hate campaign towards me! I congratulate you! :)

As far as custom ROM versions go, some do look awesome but I had to stick with stock carrier based T-wiz for the WiFi calling feature on most all T-Mobile Android and legacy BlackBerry devices.

When I was still using my S3, I was using the stock carrier release of Jelly Bean 4.1.1 for the S3. Most other phones from HTC were having issues with the update including my old HTC Sensation (possibly one if the best phones I've seen from them in years and the first dual core Android I've owned).

I keep it for emergencies should my current phone get lost or stolen or broken. I never updated the firmware as I wait a week or two on sudden issues with a bad update or more bloatware being stuffed onto the phones ROM.

Still, I use my iPhone purely for the sake of much better battery life even if its missing all the eye candy that HTC is well known for. Not only nice to look at it is all quite functional almost with the level of perfection you would expect from iOS (save for the mess that is Apple Maps, but it's improving).

The last Android I used with a custom ROM flashed on it was the older Galaxy Vibrant with CM7. I liked the custom apps and utilities but sometimes you trade off some of the functionality of the original phone.

Samsung phones have always had nice cameras in them but the app to run the camera was often so embedded in TouchWiz that the stock Android camera app was used instead (losing a lot of features in the process)

He had quite the small business buying and selling phones for various carriers. Made a bit of money doing it but it was more or less a hobby just as mine refurbishing classic Apple notebooks and the occasional PowerMac G4. I retired from that as parts were getting expensive and sometimes selling a machine I'd end up taking a loss

I also did a fair bit of repairing Windows based notebooks as well. That was my job once now turned hobby and now thinking of something different. Definitely not cell phones as people here seem to be a bit touchy even when a post is made on the subject.

RC cars is sounding tempting as I have plenty of workspace. Now I just need to buy a few wrecks and see if I can patch them together.

Butthurt is popular these days. It's like a full time job for some.

Shrink is a great example of this.

I would say if you have nothing to contribute to a conversation or forum post, why bother posting such nonsense. But hey, I agree everyone is entitled to an opinion but your comment, whom is this directed at

I couldn't care less really as yours is another post for a quick and easy +1...

That is what's actually popular here these days.

Honestly, my iPhone (whether 3GS, 4, or 5) is the best purchase I have ever made. Sadly, I am so dependent on it on a day to day basis. It really could apply to any smartphone, but I've always been happy with iPhone and with Android I personally get mixed results.

That said, the argument usually comes down to price, iPhone is one of if not the most expensive smartphone on the market. It lacks a lot of features Android phones priced more competitively offer. So people usually bitch and moan about "blah blah why would you buy iPhone, it can't do X, Y, or Z... blah blah." For me it comes down to exactly what I said above, but I'd never take an objective argument too far, I can see why people would like different platforms.

If he didn't want a 4S (which his first reply pretty much summed up), why bother arguing about his beliefs?

I once wanted to get an iPhone through a trade and to shut up any potential offers about any alternative brand, i put "no other crap brands please, every thing else is junk". Because i was fed up of every 4 out of 5 replies to be a trade offer with something entirely different from what i wanted.

Had nothing to do with what i thought about those devices or whatever, i just wanted to get what i wanted and considering these trade boards rarely tend to be places of common sense, i had to post that.

Congrats for wasting your time i guess.

I always get a chuckle when an iPhone user believes that. It's particularly funny when seeing ads for 99 cent iPhone 4's.

The only iPhone that was high-end, price-wise, was the very first one as it was not subsidized.

My Note 2 cost more than any iPhone I have had since that first one.

Except that not everyone gets subsidized pricing - you must go by retail to see the true prices of these phones.

But you are right - generally speaking the high-end Androids are pretty much at the same price point as iPhones.

Not sure what this proves though? (I didn't read the previous posts).
