When I have Apple Intelligence enabled I'm seeing a delay of 10 - 12 seconds for push notifications to certain apps such as Duo Mobile, Microsoft Authenticator and Ring doorbell. As soon as I disable Apple Intelligence the notifications are almost instant again. Anyone else experiencing this?

Yep same here.

Think it's a general problem and not just AI. I'm on a phone with no AI features and the stock app notifications (Reminders, Calendar) are slow to arrive.

Also seeing this in iPadOS 17.7.1.

Guessing some security update that came for the ride with these two OS updates is impacting something.

I had the same problem after the 18.1 / 15.1 update on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Turning on 'Summarize Previews' for the apps also fixes the issue (if you want to leave Apple Intelligence on). Basically, if you have Apple Intelligence on, but not using 'Summarize Previews', then notifications are delayed for some reason. It doesn't make sense, so hopefully it's just a bug that will get fixed soon.

Wish it did fix it for me but still seeing delayed notifications on my devices compared to my partner who hasn’t upgraded to iOS 18.1 yet. Biggest delay I have found is with my Aqara doorbells. Up to 25 secs delay.

That worked. I enabled "Summarize Previews" and then selected the apps I know were getting the delay and the notifications are now instant again. Thanks for the tip.

Duo isn’t as fast as it used to be. I had a 14 Pro Max with Duo on it on iOS 18 and it was immediate. 16? Slow so arrive. Weird.

I'm in the same boat, it's super annoying. I work in IT with privledged access, and need to MFA a lot so, this is actually a pretty big deal for me.

I'm on an iPhone 15 Pro with 18.1:
  • Turning off Apple Inteligence made a difference.
  • Having Apple Intelligence on but excluding MS Authenticator and Duo from the summaries didn't make a difference.
  • Having Apple Intelligence on but turning off notification summaries also didn't make a difference for me.

You need to turn Notification Summaries ON for the app(s). Or are you saying that didn't work for you?

Either:
  • Turn Apple Intelligence off
  • Turn on Notification Summaries for the affected apps
I did the second one, but hopefully they do get this fixed.

I’m on 18.1 on my 15 Pro and notifications for FB Messenger come in delayed vs. my iPad (also on iPadOS 18.1). I have AI enabled on both devices, but my iPhone always receive a notification 10-15 seconds after my iPad.

Facing this issue with Apple intelligence enabled on an iPhone 16 Pro Max iOS 18.2 Beta 2. Issue seemed resolved for me on iOS 18.2 Beta 1 but is reoccurring. I noticed the delayed specifically on ring doorbell notifications 15-25 second delay

Found this thread on Google. I am having the same issue on iPhone 15 PM with AI on and Summarize notifications off. I notice that notifications come immediately (Telegram and Authenticator) on my iPad 9th gen on 18.1, but not my iPhone.

Oh, I must have misread.

Apple Intelligence > On
Notification Summaries > On
Selected Apps to include in Summaries > On

These settings "fix" my notification issues. Thank you @iStorm for calling that out!

I get most of my notifications immediately on 18.1 (Apple Intelligence on, Notification summaries on for all apps), except for Mail, that one is usually delayed by 10-30 seconds.

Same problem here for me. It’s a pain for MFA applications especially.

Strangely I’m also getting hugely delayed HomeKit notifications to my Apple Watch of up to 10 mins.

I see the following settings in Notifications:

Scheduled Summary (currently Off)
Show Previews (currently Always)
Screen Sharing (currently Notifications Off)
Summarize Previews (currently Off)

What/where exactly should I be changing things? @iStorm @PhightinPhils26

Ok, I’ve enabled Scheduled Summary and added Okta Verify and Reminders (the two apps I’m noticing 10-15 second lags on).

Still getting the lag. Not fixed here.

Turn 'Summarize Previews' on and then make sure it's turned on for the Okta Verify and Reminders app. I ended up just turning it on for all my apps, which is what I assume would have happened if I had allowed summarized previews from the get-go during the initial setup of Apple Intelligence.

So Scheduled Summary needs to be on and set to a specific time, the apps need to be added to the schedule, AND Summarize Previews needs to be on, correct.

I didn’t have Summarize Previews on. Will see if that does it. Thanks.
