I really like it on the MKB and I enjoy taking it off and using it simply in tablet mode. I need to get a decent, easily attachable case when in tablet mode because the back my 2018 iPP is so slippery.

One thing I found that is amazing is this 3M 'grip' stuff. I found it by accident years ago, and have since put it on all of my OtterBox cases, and various other things too. They make it in different thicknesses. It's really hard to remove, so use it sparingly, and only on things that you really want to be 'sticky'.

I have always used my iPad as a tablet.. I do not even use the external keyboards. I had thought of getting it, but the AMK cost $450 cdn for one. Ouch. If I really need a fully function computer, I’ll just hop on my 2013 refurbished iMac and do stuff there :)

I have been using my 2021 12.9” iPad Pro exclusively docked on my Magic Keyboard since I got it, and once I started taking it off and using it like a tablet it became a lot more fun. Not only that, but I guess since the speakers are closer to me now it seems lot louder than before which is a plus. I like how the iPP vibrates from the sounds coming from the speakers. It just feels cool. I think I am sending my Magic Keyboard back and getting a Smart Folio instead. I much prefer the tablet aspect of the iPP over keeping it docked all the time. Who else prefers it?
Yeah, me too. It’s this experience of holding your screen close that makes the iPad so attractive. I hate reading books on a laptop but I could read on my iPad all night long.

Thats why I like the Logitech Combo Touch so much. I use my 11” iPad pro as a tablet for reading but I can attach a keyboard when I need it without having to remove the case.

Although, I am thinking of getting a magic keyboard for use when I’m at a desk. I like the charging aspect of it.

I use a Logitech G613 keyboard. It came with a dock that works fine for setting up my iPad when I want to use it like that. But 90% of the time, I’ve got my iPad in a regular case and use it as a tablet. I take it out of the case when I’m laying in bed and want to use it mostly one handed.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who spend the majority of their time using a keyboard and that makes sense with the Magic Keyboard. Clearly Apple thought of your scenario in designing the keyboard as it appears really simple to attach and detach from the keyboard for switching between tablet mode and quasi-laptop mode.

Most people I don’t think use their iPads as laptops. Speculation, but all the same. The iPad is a tablet first and foremost.
