Well Haswell Xeons would have been in the second half of 2013. Considering Ivy is hitting in Q2 2013, I wonder when they'll debut Haswell. I mean will they eat a short cycle on Ivy and release them the same year to try to catch up or let it slide?

Right, aren't all these just trickle down delays from the original delays with Westmere and Sandy Bridge? So, unless Ivy Bridge or Haswell are more than 1 year beyond the previous release, I'm not sure I consider that a delay. Intel's model is one release a year and a 2 year tick-tock. Maybe if they had more pressure from AMD one delay could mean a shorter cycle on the next architecture, but AMD kinda sucks right now. Meaning they don't want to eat into the profits from any singular architecture if they don't have to.

Gizmodo SUCKS.
Maybe I'll start a Facebook page "Gizmodo Sucks". I bet it'll have more 'likes' than any other page.

I hope Apple experiences a serious backlash if they EOL the Mac Pro.

new low

If you have the mentality to go on Face Book and complain then a mac mini would suit you just fine.:p

Was Westmere ever delayed? It wasn't shipped on a Mac until late summer 2010. It was shipped earlier by others. Sandy Bridge was pushed back multiple times. Coming out later than the consumer lines isn't truly a delay, but going into Fall then into Spring of the following year is definitely one. I don't agree regarding AMD. Intel had problems with the initial Sandy Bridge, so they were being cautious rather than rushing out another potentially faulty product. If AMD pushed them to release it anyway, would that really be a good thing? Ivy Bridge E wouldn't have caught up either way. If you look at it right now, Ivy Bridge has seen delays too. They may have ended up with fabrication problems. I'm not sure.

Right now Ivy Bridge E is still listed as Q2 2013. At some point they're either going to catch up somewhat or risk delays putting the lines even further apart, which will likely hurt sales of less expensive Xeons, especially if features like ECC ram are not a necessity.

But I don't hold out too much hope. The Hackintosh community are meeting my upgradeable tower needs these days.

Don't forget to thank Gizmodo for the free advertising that kicked off the like storm.

Macs in June according to WSJ but still no mention of MP's:
http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20120524-714576.html

The WSJ is just rehashing the story from one of the rumour sites. They know less than you do.

In addition the WSJ can't even get the product line right (MacBook Pros not iMacs)!

I'm a surprised that WSJ and a week ago Bloomberg bother reporting these rumours, as quality journalism generally avoids speculative rumours! Standards are slipping. Perhaps it show the level of hype that now surrounds Apple. The FleeceBook (FaceBook) is looking a bit tarnished!

Almost 10,000 now on the facebook page. I sure hope Apple says something to reply to this but I would be shocked if they did.

I am with you on that . I would be COMPLETELY shocked. Unfortunately there is a better chance they won't say anything. At least they know who's cheerios they are pissing in at this point.

If Apple has killed the Mac Pro it's a little late now isn't it?

Not only would it take several months to engineer, the Mac Pro development team would have been killed along with it and the former Mac Pro team members are busy with other work. Right?

if retina displays are the next big thing... then there will most likely be an update to the thunderbolt display so the next iteration of mac minis and mbps have external monitor solutions with retina support. i doubt apple will continue selling the displayport monitor once a retina thunderbolt display is released.

Mac OS is known to be a solid stable for a proffesional work and better then Windows

it will be very surprise if Apple woud kill Mac Pro, unless Mac os will be awailable on PC which i do not think will happen.

Stranger things have happened in the IT world. SGI killed of IRIX and forced seppuku upon their professional video team, because SGI swore allegiance to the mighty Itanium.

So being in the "pro" business does not grant instant immunity against stupid notions. Something which is true even for Apple.

But then, it did not mean the end to professional video …

petitions are lame. Petitions on facebook even lamer.
Because nothing has ever been accomplished with a petition? However posting about how "lame" petitions are in a thread about them is a great use of your time and super awesome? I just want to make sure I am understanding your point of view correctly.

Wallets are the only petitions that work in the business world.

When people start carrying their money to competitors.

High end users would be the first, and many would follow. At would create a kind of reverse switcher campaign "You can't use an Apple for serious work". The high end Apple users are a group who can make themselves heard. It would be a disaster for Apple to get into this situation.

On top of that, Apple doesn't lose money on the Mac Pro.

But there will be a new Mac Pro, and it'll be a big step.

I can agree that money will speak louder. Just give me the opportunity to vote with my dollar. I will gladly take the opportunity.
Edit: To put a finer point on it, I think the petition is a great way for the consumer base to let Apple know how they feel. I liked the Facebook page and will show Apple, if given the opportunity, that it's not an empty vote by perchasing a new Macpro if released. If a new Macpro is not released, at least Apole will be able to put faces to all the consumers they are ignoring.
