and yet you feel the need to post endlessly on the sonoma forum to complain.... 🤔
i am not complaining, it is my personal impression and free expression of my impression about this lame imho update. Are you against expression of my speech? Or am I supposed to write only good things about Sonoma? is that what you mean?

I think the issue here is we need to get into the mind set that most updates going forward are going to be relatively minor. Think less "OS 9 to OS 10" and more "Win95 to Win98." Frankly, that's a good thing. Minor updates cause less confusion due to less radical UI changes, it's easier to market one or two key features a year instead of many, and it (usually) allows for fewer major bugs and glitches. I've really not found any major issues with Sonoma so far, just annoyances. If this is what we can expect going forward, then I'm fine with that.

I'm also far more interested in new features that really improve the QoL. I'm reminded of the "300 new features" of Leopard and most of them were listing literally every change ever, even if it was something like "new icon for random app."

If it's so minor, why do a major revision at all? Because they need to justify dropping support for "older" systems, which they're certainly doing as quick as they can get away with to drop Intel Macs?

"Hey so uh now you can errr sort your grocery list... oh but now the whole OS won't run on several years of production Macs... oh and we broke a bunch of your software" :apple::cool:

I don't care for any of the Sonoma features at all -- can't find even a single one -- meanwhile, I would love speed, stability, and quality-of-life enhancements that are standard across other operating systems (better dual-monitor support, window snapping, linear mouse/mousewheel options, etc).

Yes, that's correct. Apple has always been that way. They don't do legacy support. They are a hardware company and want you buying new hardware every few years.

It seems that every interaction with desktop results in beach ball...wondered how to resolve on 2018 Intel MacBook Pro 32GB RAM?

Check th ssd
When you say check the SSD, can you be a little more specific? I am using 267GB of 512GB...and the beach ball is annoying, even if for a few seconds...thinking of doing a clean install of Sonama...

Your main drive is probably corrupted so use disk aid utility from another boot drive like usb to boot and rebuild the main disk. Alternatively, erase the drive, create new partitions and install a new installation. Also the ssd drive might be failing due wear. Check it too for failure and wear

True. Superficial changes to force upgrade. Nothing personal, it is business

If the SSD itself is fine, then I do suggest a clean install. I did this for Sonoma and the performance is great. I had issues where some software I was using in the past didn't seem to get removed properly, and I'd find bits of it in the "Login Items" area, unable to be removed. I had some third-party keyboard drivers that also seem to have gotten corrupted. All of this was fixed with a clean install.

I'm late to this thread, but one benefit is that I get the privilege of paying Parallels for another upgrade. Sure, this is true of every macOS upgrade, but it's still a benefit!
