yea....was it just me or is the picture quality horrible?

I was in my apple store a few days ago and they had those 26" or are they 32"? either way Sony Bravia's and I played all different type of content off of it via the Apple TV and the picture quality was SOOO low. And I think that TV is only 720p...

Im looking to hook this stuff up to a 60" Sony 1080p TV....Is it going to just look even worse on mine?

Yeah, it's not you. The media that they have on the display units don't really show the unit in its full glory. I tried the Incredibles demo and it was awful, but that's expected since the video is probably 640x360, or so.

As I noted above, one of the employees had his linked personal Mac with some HD material. This stuff looked very good. I didn't ask where he got the material, but he did say it was 720p. Which is kinda funny since it was the NBC show, the Office, which is broadcast in 1080i. So even with the conversion from broadcast 1080i to an MPEG-4/h264 720p file, the end result was excellent. It did survive the downrez'ing very well (~15mbps to 5mpbs).

Oh yeah, regarding how it would look on your 60" Sony. I suspect that it would look the same as your HD Cable/Sat box set on 720p. Or if you're an OTA guy, it would look similar to ABC or Fox. Which is to say, probably pretty good.

But did any of you ever see the really cool Sony LCD TV Bravia advert with the bouncy balls?

http://www.bravia-advert.com/balls/

The advert was of 250,000 bouncy balls flying down the hills of San Francisco. Supposedly it was aired in Europe but not in the US.

Check out the 3 minute version in high quality h.264
