Kudos for flat screen on a new large format phone. 21:9 is taking the long/narrow format to the extreme but I guess that makes for one hell of a pocket size movie theatre, especially with that screen quality & OLED. A touch wider and my wallet would have started twitching. As it stands, I'll be watching with interest from the sidelines.

Definitely a sexy design. Such a shame about the camera.Initial impressions are just as good as they were with the actual hardware as my hands on in the store.
It really is a lovely phone - well designed and great screen.
I like a lot about it.
It's a very stock Android experience, which I have come to love. Stock is the only way for me.
The tall aspect ratio is actually really great. I have had a look at some video content on the device and it is the first phone I would happily watch a movie or TV series on. That ratio, along with the 4K OLED is truly amazing.
It's a fantastic screen with great viewing angles and absolutely zero colour shift when you tilt it. Not sure how they've managed that with it being OLED, but it's impressive.
I much prefer the tall screen, slimmer profile and non curved edge of this device than something like the S10+.
Always on Display is brilliant.
Battery life - well I exepcted mediocre results but I've been seriously impressed. For a device with such a small battery, it is very good.
This is today's result.
Granted, I only have 10% left at half 7 when I took the screenshot, but I've been off work today so have been hammering the phone with all sorts.
Can't complain at that at all.
Some pics - the grey is easily the best colour IMO.
An example of how much more content you can get:
So far so good then?
Well, not quite. I will be returning it despite really liking the phone.
There's just one reason for returning it too... the camera.
The camera on the Pixel 3 is literally the greatest phone camera I have ever used and unfortunately, this just does not come close.
Don't get me wrong, it is capable of capturing a fantastic photo.
Case in point below:
Great shot, right?!
But you want to see how many I tried to take before I got one that came out well.
Not only that, but it was painful to try and switch through different modes to attempt to get this.
I had to use Manual mode to get that photo, as you can automatically enable HDR that way. There's no such option in Auto mode.
What I have found in using Manual is it makes images a little brighter, and HDR is indeed active and you can tell.
But man, is it slow. It's just typical Sony. Camera interface is sluggish, it takes too long to load the app and the processing time after a photo is shot means you get a little turning circle over the thumbnail in the bottom right which lasts a good 5 seconds before you can view it.
It's so disappointing.
I picked my Pixel 3 back up for the first time in 24 hours just now and I honestly feel like Google have just nailed virtually everything in that phone.
And to think I was so critical of it when it was unveiled and released.
Talk about getting it right.
If Sony's camera was on par with even the S10, which I enjoyed using as it was super fast and reliable - then I'd be happy and I would definitely be considering keeping it. As it stands though, I am enjoying using the Pixel so much that I don't want to part with it - even though the Xperia 1 hardware is truly impressive.
