We kicked out Dish Network and couldn't be happier. We have 3 TV's in the house.

I have a mix of 2 ATV2's and 1 ATV3 hooked to the TV's.

We aren't really sports people, so that made it much easier and that seems to be the major snag is sports.

I have my iTunes library on my Win7 PC stored on a 2TB drive. I back that up nightly to an external drive.

On some things including rentals we just use iTunes. If I'm not in the mood for commercials we rent TV shows over iTunes or we use the CW/NBC/ABC apps on our iPad and mirror to the TV. You have to put up with commercials on those though.

As I buy more HD content I can for sure see myself expanding my storage in the future. It'd also be nice to have a dedicated machine that isn't my gaming/everything else PC, but it works for now.

Didn't Apple remove the ability to rent TV shows?

Been without Dish for 9 months now. We really dont miss it. Love saving the money.
327 DVD's and 685 Cd's ripped to an old but stable eMac G4 running
10.5.8 and iTunes 10.6.with G-Tech 2TB external hard drive used as a server in a closet. Have 1 ATV3 in living room and 1 ATV2 in daughters room.
Use a Netgear wireless N router and with a Netgear range extender to boost performance for upstairs signal. We use OTA for local network channels.
I still have about 45 Blurays that I need to rip and would like to convert
about 65 vinyl albums also. It all takes time but it is worth it once you get done. I will say I do believe that the last few ATV software updates have been buggy in comparison to the early versions. But still overall it is great.
Most important thing is have a backup plan for your media in place do not put it off for another day.
