iPhone 14 Pro now comes in Space Black. Will this finish come to the next MacBook Pro? 🤔

Space grey was nixed for all new products announced today.

If it does I'll be seriously tempted. Looking to buy a new computer, maybe a laptop and a desktop, next year.

After comparing the space black finish on Apple's website to space gray, space black looks like a darker version of space gray. My hopes were Apple would actually double anodize the whole computer black — not just the keyboard well.

I'd immediately trade my M1 Pro for a Space Black M2 Pro with Dynamic Island and Face ID. Plus the matching MagSafe.
You're outta luck man. The only changes are obviously M2 Pro/M2 Max; matching MagSafe for the darker finish; maybe a smaller NaN-based charger; and, probably the darker finish of Space Black to replace Space Gray.

I'd love to see a space blue version, but since I own a new MBP, I'm largely SOL if they did decide for that color
Maybe midnight? That was the original thinking. But it seems to be destined as a consumer side offering after the latest Apple product announcements.

Space Gray is pretty popular, they’d be brave to change things too much at this point. Besides, if you go any darker than SG fingerprints start to become a real issue.

I wouldn't put its past them, space grey was very popular on the iPhone as well and they changed from it many times lol

Apple has put silver front & center in their product presentations since the 2019 Mac Pro & Pro Display XDR. It seems like the company has had somewhat of a falling out with space gray.

I'd love a 13" MBP M3 in Space Black, even if it's only marginally darker than Space Gray -- Space Gray was only marginally darker than Silver, so at least it would be a distinctly different color. Maybe it was the lighting conditions, but I saw both Silver and Space Gray side by side in person recently and could barely distinguish the two. As for the 14/16"ers, I think Silver looks best on them to contrast with the keyboard well.
Ideally said 13" Pro M3 would carry on the present design with the Touch Bar, but I've recently found out I'm the only person on this planet that actually likes the Touch Bar, so I recognize that's a fight I can't win.

I disagree with you there. The Silver on the new and bulkier 14 and 16" chassis looks so classic that I'd call it retro. Space Gray is far more modern. But to each their own.

"Retro" is... a bit exaggerated. I'd say in terms of Macintosh laptops, black is the retro option -- the PowerBook G4 comes in silver (or painted light gray) and both can run an OS that can handle TLS 1.3, which is my personal dividing line on "retro" computer hardware. Everything prior came in black, with I guess the exceptions of the Macintosh Portable and PowerBook 100. Though, the Pismo can also run Tiger...
The exact black bezel, silver body color scheme was introduced in October 2008, and I can't in good conscience call anything that new "retro". If it had a silver bezel to look reminiscent of the PowerBook G4, I could see the argument.

Apple chose to spotlight the silver 13" MacBook Pro for its presentation of Continuity Camera.

I’m not sure why I’m engaging in this pointless discussion, but you might like to check out Apple’s webpage for the 13” MacBook Pro. Space Gray is also the default color option when purchasing the 14 and 16” MacBook Pros on the Apple online store.

Subject for another thread I suppose, but I'm curious how you're liking your new MBP when compared to your Razer. Obviously the MBP isn't a gaming machine, but for other tasks have you been happy?

I still use the razer, as it has its uses, but man alive the experience is night and day. I absolutely love the performance of the MBP, how I can go on battery and not take a huge performance penalty. My only gripe with the MBP (and its not an apple complaint) is that windows arm (within parallels) cannot run my work's VPN. If I had that, then Razer would be collecting dust at this point.

Back on topic, I'm looking to put a dbrand skin on the MBP, because I really love the midnight blue color and I wish dbrand would come out with a similar color. I understand the non-consumer laptops that apple produces tend to be more muted color wise, but there's something to be said about having a black MBP with a white apple logo.

Ok this just in: My iPhone 14 Pro in space black has arrived. Whilst there isn't a space gray MacBook Pro handy at the moment to make a direct comparison, I can tell the space black finish is noticeably darker. Retiring space gray & replacing it with space black on the MacBook Pro line-up would be very much welcomed.

Yep, while they're at it they should replace silver with starlight. It would be very much be welcomed.

Starlight > Silver.

I'm quite ashamed to say that I would be tempted to trade in my 1 year old M1 MBP for a space black--depending upon how that color is actually implemented.
