To the OP, have you considered Bose Companion 3?? I have them they sound ok and have the bass you want.

I've got them and I like them a lot, although I'm not quite sure they are worth the price. They sound great to me though. I've got ones that are several years old and look quite different. Mine look great with my iMac. I like the volume control it comes with.
 
what about the Hardon Kardon Soundsticks II? I have them. Granted I dont know much about sound quality, but I really like the design:)

They are quite nice and totally worth the price IMO. Although the sound is just average (2.5" paper cones as sats isn't quite what I want) when you compare it to other Bose speakers (301 series V specifically) which even though are worth the same, the sound is so much better. The "problem" that comes with 301's and for that matter all of Bose's stereo speakers is that they require a good amp to go, Im getting an awesome integrated amp from NAD to go with my 301 that are arriving in 2 weeks.
