Rumor has it that even with 10.3 and X11, OpenOffice has that copy/paste problem... so that settles it. NeoOffice it shall be. God bless free software. *beam*

I'm hoping to update to 10.3 damn soon...this weekend, if i can. And after that, I'll do a whole bunch of maintenance and clean up work. convert all the necessary files, get rid of MS Office, get rid of OpenOffice install NeoOffice...etc. everyone will live happily ever after. Especially me. Anyway, thanks again for your help everyone.

Well, time to resurrect an old topic. I finally got around to getting Panther a while ago, and I've been toying around with a copy of Office 2004 (which claims to have improved unicode support). Anyone have any ideas on getting that symbol in 2004? =)

Yep, that's quite easy now. Go to the Finder, select "Edit->Special Characters...". A panel will appear.
Choose "Unicode" from the "View" menu, select "Latin Extended-A" in the left List (3rd item) and now you can insert these symbols by double-clicking it. The panel will work in all Unicode-compatible applications, i.e. also in Word 2004.
You can also select "Combining Diacritical Marks" and double-click the "-" after typing the character and it will get the accent. However, Word sometimes doesn't know where to put it, so the accent can cross the letter out sometimes. That's why I would recommend using "Latin Extended-A".
