i doubt the clear ones do it, they seem way more sturdy.
i think the satin one is more flexible.

no updates, i doubt i will get one. speck probably just ignored it.

I have the one for the 15" mbp (new version, even though I've compared it to my other friends' 15" with SD card slot and it looks exactly the same). My bottom piece is pretty snug fitting with the part where you open the laptop. When I close it the case is still snug and fitted. Maybe the 17" is a little different, but I would recommend calling speck and asking for a replacement. Either that, or go with the plastic (not satin) case. It's been perfect for me.

mm, i know this is an old post but i figured i'd give an update.
this just happened like today.

i e-mailed speck back yesterday telling them that their customer service sucks and about my case again, and they wrote back (within like 10 minutes) saying that their warranty is for a year and to send them my name, address, pictures, and web number of the item.

so i did, and now they're shipping me a new one to replace it.
i guess i don't have to ship this one back though?
it makes sense, it would cost money to ship it back and it's pretty much not worth it to. but still, pretty nice to just get one for free, even though it's a defect.

at least i hope it's the case that's defective and not my laptop,
but we'll find out i guess.
too bad i couldn't try out a clear plastic one and see if that one hangs too.

if this next one has the same problem, i think i'll just contact apple and tell them my laptop is bowed, because i know it is a little bit due to some screen to bottom gap.

but whatever.

speck customer service isn't so bad, i'm satisfied.
just sucks that i had to go back to them a 2nd time for this,
or a 3rd? they ignored my first email AND voicemail.
so, could be betterrrr.

could be worse though.
