When using Safari with the Public Beta Yosemite, I frequently get the spinning pin wheel and need to force quit Safari. I reported it to Apple but am wondering in anyone else has encountered this.

The spinning beachball of death is a "feature" of Yosemite that shows up about 90 seconds. It's one of the "improvements".
I've had the spinning ball when starting Safari ever since mavericks.
However, now safari just hangs on some websites and it crashes once a day whereas previously it literally never crashed on me.
My entire system is slower and doubling RAM to 8Gb did absolutely nothing.
Yosemite is an ugly dog
Can you post one of the affected URLs? Thanks.
With Yosemite the beachballing isn't limited to Safari. I get random beachballs every 15-20 minutes that last anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes. And before the fanboys jump in and say it's my install, I'm on my 5th clean install of 10.10 since the middle of Nov. (trying to get rid of the damned beachballs).
Yosemite has turned my Mini into what feels like a 6 year old machine, and this is with doubling the RAM. I didn't expect to get ezactly zero response from moving to 8Gb from 4Gb
I've had the opposite experience with Yosemite on my base 20102 MM. The only problem i've encountered is the random Safari BB which requires a FQ. Besides that Yosemite feels quite zippy on my Mini with 4GB of ram.
In any case, Safari has always had a spinning beach ball when first opening it but the bigger problem is the hanging and crashing which didn't happen before
I'm having no PWOD issues on 10.10.1 with the latest (non-beta) Safari.
Yeah the startup BB in Safari is too familiar for me but Yosemite is the only OS X version that causes a hang which requires a FQ. I never had the Safari hang problem with either ML or Mavs. The head scratcher is that it's so intermittent.

It's not a particular site.
I'm having NO pwod issues of any kind on 10.10.1.
You don't have to be a Fan Boy to understand proper diagnostics - it certanly looks like some install have issues with pwod but as so many installs have no issues it points to hardware or firmware not being as the OS expects it, or a hardware fault. 5 clean installs implies the OS code is not corrupt.

That sounds like potentially an iCloud bookmarks sync issue/delay. I sometimes get that on ios8 Safari.
OK. Next time it happens, use the key chord for sysdiagnose as soon as you see a spinning wait cursor that's unexpected. The end result will include relevant information.
