There's some recent scholarship suggesting that, under certain conditions, cooperation can actually play a valuable role in survival...it would have been nice to incorporate some of those ideas as well, and would have made the game deeper.
Apparently, from the reviews, the "big" Spore is the same way.
My little spiny, clawed, poly-ocular creature is kind of cute, though.
The graphics are beautiful, and quite professional. The "tilt" playability is quite good. Very polished.
dang game drains your battery fast!

In the 'big SPORE' the 'origins' phase is pretty similar. It is eat or be eaten, basically, though you do start to see others of your type that are not hostile to you. This seems appropriate given the level of intelligence found in this type of creature. As soon as you climb out of the ocean, though, cooperation because as much a part of the game as you would like it to. You can socialize with and cooperate with other races, and even bring some into your pack. Social possibilities grow as the game grows. Or, if you want, you can create a xenophobic carnivorous race that kills everything it sees without question. The review I am mainly referring to is on Ars Technica, but I've seen a couple of others in the same vein.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't really like playing games on the iPhone. Especially because of that little screen. Even on the psp. Nothing like playing on the Playstation..the xbox...even the wii.
In the train? I'd rather close my eyes, listen to my music while I rest from a hard day's work. Plus, if people see me playing with my iPhone, that's an incentive for someone to run up, tear from my hands, and run away.
