why is it apple's fault that spotify's app is a bit basic?

I don't pay for either but when I can get a homepod mini then I guess ill sign up for the apple one, which in Portugal is only 12 euro. I figure its worth trying it for a few months to see if I think the games and tv are worth it.

Apple chooses who can be on their devices like the HomePod, and they choose to not allow Spotify. That is not a limitation that comes from Spotify. That is Apple's 'fault.'

think you are on the wrong thread or misread the post. the other guy's post and my reply were about Spotify on his Apple Watch.

Possibly. But is the Spotify app on AW basic because of a choice by Spotify, or because Apple does not offer the same APIs that it gets to use for its own music app?

I live in a European country. It took Spotify over 10 years to become available here, which is why I ultimately decided to give my money to Apple Music, which was available here since it first launched a few years ago. Yeah, it's not perfect. It doesn't always add music to my library when I want it to, the song recommendation algorithm isn't the best but these issues are minor, in my eyes. AM is also a bit cheaper than Spotify
A funny thing about Spotify's algorithm – is a bit sh*t when you listen to local punk rock music. It shuffles the songs with mainstream ones (think Harry Styles and Ariana Grande) and that's just laughably bad.
