Creating a dedicated thread for this as I saw the existing thread currently has no leather bands, and feel like it would be easier to contain them here!

Love the classic buckles but there‘s nothing there for me in this new collection. Sunflower is already the prettiest yellow imaginable and Sea Blue seems quite close to the new Electric Blue.

Don't forget that in addition to Electric Blue being a clone of the bolded colour, Sea Blue still has the original-design oval shaped buckle, before in 2017, they moved to the round, square buckle.

No matter how much I try to persuade myself to change my mind or force myself to like it, I will never concede that the square buckle is better than the oval buckle - its worse. People that have tiny wrists, it looks vastly out of proportion and prominent.

So if you have a 3rd Gen Classic Buckle (from 2016), congratulations, you have that watch band when it was in its prime. Hang on to it for as long as you can.

Also, why did they discontinue the Midnight Blue Classic Buckle? There was no note of this being a limited time colour and now its been pulled from sale for good

Yeah, well, I actually like both buckles, but I understand that it‘s a matter of personal taste and maybe for smaller wrists the older design was indeed better. But there are/were so many beautiful bands only available with the new buckle (e.g, Ruby, Sunflower, Dark Aubergine …) that it would be sad to avoid them just because of the different buckle.

I still like the Classic Buckle, just not as much as before the redesign. The last one I got was a previous gen Saddle Brown.

It’s indeed a matter of taste, so I’m happy for those that find the newer design nicer and prefer it.

I decided to try out the Spring Yellow, have another 2 weeks to decide if I want to return.

If I didn‘t have the Sunflower already, I would have gone for the Spring Yellow as well. It‘s a very nice colour and looks just fine on your wrist, I think.

Could you post a pic of the sunflower yellow? I feel like I’ve missed the boat on that one :(

Also I had the soft pink for a few days but the connector that slides into the watch was faulty so had to return it! Certainly a very light pink in person, will probably pick it up again at some point

I saw someones photo on reddit, the Sunflower actually has some subtle orange tones in it? Dependant on lighting. That looked pretty nice I have to say.

Here you go. It has indeed a slightly orange hue, which is gorgeous IMO. I actually had the Marigold classic buckle before and sold it after I got the Sunflower. The Marigold is more of a mustard yellow while the new Spring looks like a nice, straight, light yellow.

I added the Yellow and Pollen Sport bands for comparison's sake.

Aww I actually much prefer the Sunflower now! It reminds me of a good sunset. I remember that one "Sold Out" well before it was formally discontinued, I can see why now.

That is a really rich colour, in comparison, I actually think Spring Yellow looks a little artificial.

If a new collection is released, I check it out immediately and if I really like a band, I just get it. It‘s a lesson I learned the hard way when I waited too long for some bands and had to hunt them down on ebay later.

But yeah, the Sunflower is really special. To me, Spring is actually the second nicest yellow released yet, nicer than Marigold and the Hermes Lime. I imagine it would be very, very hard to find a used Sunflower as I‘m sure the number sold is quite low (most people buy leather straps just in boring colours like black and brown) and why would one sell this thing of beauty? If I were you, I would get Spring Yellow and see if you like it; Apple‘s return window and policy is quite generous and it‘s not that easy to judge a colour from pictures on the internet, especially as the colours change quite profoundly under different lighting conditions.

Yeahhh the Sunflower was only available for like, 3 months, which wasn't long, before it was taken down (but I do remember, Sold Out well before!). Same with the Pride Woven Nylon bands.

I think Sapphire was one of the nicest colours they came up with, from the previous collection. It was just really vibrant, but not gaudy. And Taupe was unique too. It wasn’t marked as a limited time color, but was removed anyway sadly.

I already have Spring Yellow, see I attached a pic earlier in this thread, I will attach another, I’m thinking about it carefully. It’s nice in some lighting shades (eg sunlight), but in others, it looks like a leather version of Flash silicone, which I’m not fond of (very artificial looking colour)

Ahhh gotcha, that was your picture. Well, then give it a few days and see what you think. But everyone needs a yellow leather Watch band, I think :D

I totally agree wrt the other colours you mentioned, Taupe is just sublime and probably the Classic Buckle I wear the most because it goes with basically everything. And Sapphire is a very beautiful shade of blue, much better than the almost-black Midnight IMO.

No matter if there is a designation or not, basically ALL Apple Watch bands are seasonal and if they‘re sold out they never return. Just very, very few bands (like the super-basic Black and White Sport bands or the Saddle Brown classic buckle) remain indefinitely, and only once in a blue moon a band returns (like the Fog Sport band).
