Is because the screen is dirty. That's the only way to see the black spots.

looks like something roughly the same shape of the screen but smaller was stuck on top at some point and left some residue possibly when removed. first thought was a screen protector, but too small for that. maybe something that grips the screen to hold it during a manufacturing process was involved. interesting.

I have never observed anything like that before. I agree it looks like a defect in the display or embedded in the sapphire. Curious to see how long it's been like that.

Oh, okay. So it looks like they are edges of a smaller screen. Strange marks.

Mine had something like that too. I polished it with a Cape Cod Cloth and it went away.

Try a microfiber cloth with a few drops of water?

I had the same problem as you. It's broken oleophobic coathing. If you polished with Cape Cod Cloth remove the defect, but also oleophobic coating.
