BTW I had a SanDisk Extreme die on me with 1TB of important data on it just the other day. It was lightly used, only rarely connected to a computer. After that experience I would never buy another SanDisk product.

I just bought a refurbished Samsung T7 SSD. I formatted it using my MacBook. When I connect it with my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I can transfer files and access media in the SSD. But in Camera Mode when I select ProRes mode. I get error message, of ProRes not supported. In camera It doesn't show USB-C.

What could be the problem? Is it because of the cable? T7 SSD doesn't come with USB -C 3.2 cable

Do I need to erase it and select some other file system? This is all I got

If you move the T7 between different devices, incl. non-Apple ones, use ExFat. If not use APFS - apparently you can’t, so Mac OS Extended it is.

But where is the option of APFS?

• Your Mac has to run macOS 10.13 or newer (APFS will not mount on 10.12 and earlier)
• APFS is only available in Disk Utility when Scheme is set to ‘GUID Partition Map’, APFS will not be shown when Scheme is set to Master Boot Record.

I am using MacOS Sonoma, and Disk Utility was the only way I could erase that SSD when I used it first time.

I've been thinking about something like this BUT I'm not 100% sold on the idea either because of it's small size.

I'm going on an Alaskan Cruise later this year and I plan on using my 15 Pro for damn near everything so it would be nice to offload my pictures and videos onto a compatible device
