It appears to be spec'ed around 2010 or so. SCSI was long gone from Macs by that time.

You say money is no objet but at any given time there's a size of storage which works out considerably cheaper. It may still be worth your while to find out what the best price point is.
Otherwise, it's unlikely the SSDs will die in 10 years no matter how you use them. Of course, sometimes they do die but that's just a likely to be in the first 6 months as 10 years.
As to 1 big or 2 small- check the price per Gb as I have said but multiple drives do tend to create a bit more or a headache. You tend to lose track of what's on each wasting time and causing duplicates.
You are also more likely to misplace one of them. You tend to use one more often and then can't find the other one.
There are swings and roundabouts. I'm not sure you'll see a really big difference whichever way you go so prioritize what's important to you first and if there's not a big difference in anything else then it's likely the difference doesn't really matter.
