Is installing the tweak SSLPatch the same as updating to 7.0.6?

Going to 7.0.6 is recommended over installing SSLPatch (for the reasons above: apps running in root are vulnerable and you're completely vulnerable when in safe mode)

No - Patch doesn't work/protect when being in Safe Mode and also doesn't work in applications like Cydia and iFile.

No biggie to me.
I don't use ifile and don't do anything bedsides restart if I get into safe mode.
I use my own secure wifis and use LTE when out.
Joining random and public wifi in General is not a good idea.
I'm sticking on 7.0.4 and with the patch I'd be more than fine.

I share the exact same mindset. Funny cause I was gonna post basically the exact same thing lol

Same for me :)

With the path it (hopefully) would, but as a general rule 'not connecting to public wifi' isn't enough to prevent it from occurring.

Well I do have the patch installed.;)
But even if I didn't wouldn't the man in the middle attack have to be connected to the same wifi as me and couldn't pick up my data if Im just using 3G or LTE carrier data?

I feel the same way. Updating is too much of a hassle to me lol

I dont have many tweaks so decided just to update and jailbrake again, can see why it would be annoying for people with loads of tweaks though

annoying yes but I decided to update all my devices. it could a long time before we get an update so I figured might as well be as current as possible before hunkering down waiting for a 7.1 jb

Other than the ancient repo data that I had to fix with iCleaner, the update was fine, and everything is working just like before.

My phone went into safe mode twice since I updated which was on Saturday night, each time when opening my google plus app. It hasn't happened since. Works just as good as 7.0.4.

So is the consensus to update and re-jailbreak? Is the SSL patch that I downloaded good enough?

No, that's one of the insidious mis-truths being spread about this bug. It was/is more likely propagated through a honeypot, but the attacks can be remote as well. It doesn't have to be between you and your gateway.

I would recommend updating anyway as it really is no big hassle to, but up to you :)

Highly recommend you upgrade.

If the patch doesn't work with Cydia doesn't that mean you are vulnerable when purchasing tweaks with this patch?

Anyway, upgrading is definitely worth it, probably don't have long now until the un-jailbreakable 7.1 comes out and there does seem to be a nice improved (placebo) effect going on with battery life on 7.0.6.
