It depends on what you want to play really. If you're just going single player and casual online, you should be fine. If you're going for the Diamond League, etc. gameplay, get a Core I7 with a high end video card.

You downloaded SC2? Mind telling me where the link is?

Thank you guys, several of you posted you're running the game in the "LOW" video settings and it still would run smooth. That's enough to quell my fears. I think i will be picking it up tonight.

Over the weekend i had download the pre-installer from www.battle.net; today i was able to install it and actually get to the main menu (where i saw what the video settings would be aka LOW!), but going anywhere else in the game requires me to type in my battlenet creds, with a valid key attached to it.

I'll report back. :)

FYI, these are my specs:
iMac7,1
Core 2 Duo (C2D): 2.4GHz
RAM: 4GB
Video: ATI Radeon HD2600
VRAM: 256MB

You can see my iMac's stats above. And I have something to report back with.

1. Single player - graphics set to LOW are definitely LOW. BUT BUT BUT, the gameplay is smooth and the sound is clear. Absolutely no complaints. Definitely worth it. No regrets.

2. Multiplayer - since this isn't so story heavy the graphics don't really standout so much, but again VERY smooth gameplay and that's all that matters.

Even though all the video settings are LOW, definitely not a bad gameplay experience.

PS: the inverse of my play time with SC2 would be any Steam Source game! Those games run like crap. I have my iMac bootcamped and those Steam games run fine! But now the Mac with newly-released Steam? Poop! (I've tried TF2 and DOD:S). Torchlight plays well, no complaints there.
