I was playing the beta version of Starcraft II, I'm heading over to best buy soon to pick up my preordered copy. Do I need to remove the beta install of the game first?

yes, blizzard even released a statement or whatever you want to call it to remove beta first so as there is no conflicts with normal install. Having beta pre-installed does nothing for the retail installation, only possible hindrance. Good luck!

Ohh... hope it will work good on my iMac 27-inch, C2D 3.06GHz, Radeon HD4670.. damnn if someone can send me a demo code from inside, because first I want to check it out ... :p

Let us know which one runs better!

On my machine (specs in my profile) it runs well enough in OS X that I don't feel any need whatsoever to try it in Windows. Hopefully that's a good sign for the rest of you :)

Edit: Hmm, unless running it in Windows will actually make my Battle.net work... is anyone else having trouble with it in OS X?

Can anyone spare a guest pass? Mine was mailed to my house in San Diego.... and I'm not going back in the near future.

For those that have installed already, how long did your installs take? Mine took a good 45 minutes or so to install from DVD.

I just bought one on ebay :/

I checked this morning and they were dry, now there are plenty of them. I knew they'd try and get entrepreneurial :D

Mine can't have been more than 15 minutes, probably more like 10.

This. I installed the downloaded version. I went through each slide and by the time slides were done it was already around 80-90%

Just got done with a 1.5 hr match with a buddy of mine doing 2v2 Co-op. I forgot how much fun SC was and now thinking if I should put my WoW acct on hold.

hmm... Anyhow if anybody wants to play or add each other let me know!

yeah I put my wow sub on hold, well I just canceled the automated payment. 75 DK + 65 Rogue, I really want to get them both to 80 before Cata though. So I don't think i'll take too long of a break.

My brother bought this game so I squirreled the guest key from the box and installed it. First I tried to find 1 on 1 on battle.net but I was getting errors, tried it a couple time with no luck. So I played the computer, I'm running on macbook aluminum late 2008 with nvidia 9400m, 2 gigs of ram. All my graphic setting are on low and the game still looks pretty good to me and seems to run good (at least for small games) Gonna have to play some more

I've been able to play for 6+ hours at 1920x1200, Textures and Graphics set to Ultra, no problem. I'm running with a GTX260, 8GB RAM and 10.6.4.

This is incredibly irritating. I've waited years for StarCraft 2 but does anyone know what possessed Blizzard to charge GBP 44.95 for the electronic download when the retail version costs GBP 34.91 from the likes of Amazon? I really didn't want to waste buying a physical box but the pricing for this game is nuts.

Having downloaded the client in advance at the weekend it now seems that I wasted my time.

Sorry, I'll stop whinging now...

Ok, I thought I would wait but with all the talk on the forum I said screw it and bought it. I wish I hadn't. I have been freaking playing it all darn night and day. Love the game. If you liked the play and feel of the first one you will love this one.

Damn you Blizzard!!!! Damn you!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I know I was going to be glued to the chair for hours with this game... and I was.

I'm having a problem with adding friends. Basically my RealID list is empty (I have plenty of friends there when using WoW) and I can't add friends by character name and code. I emailed Blizz and got this back:

You will only be able to communicate with RealID friends that are in the same region as you. If you have WoW friends in the US Region but are playing SC2 in the SEA Region, you will not be able to communicate with them via RealID.

While that is probably technically accurate, it doesn't actually solve my problem (not to mention that the issue isn't limited to RealID). Does anyone know how to change the SC2 region? Or, for that matter, why both NZ-bought games are in different regions by default?

Edit: Just to clarify, my NZ-purchased WoW and expansions have all been US versions, and I believe that the US is the "correct" region for NZ. For some reason I've ended up with an Asian version of SC2, despite also buying it in NZ.

I don't think you'll be able to add anybody (realid or via name/code) except people in the SEA region. Even with name/code the servers are completely separate. You might try posting in their tech support forum although this is probably more of a customer service issue. But possibly some other NZ/Aus people will see it and chime in. Sounds like they'll need to scoot you to the NA region. Seems odd that they'd sell you guys NA versions for WoW and SEA versions for SC2.

Hrm I found this.... sounds like you might just have to wait 60 days or so.

Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand StarCraft® II to Include North American Battle.net® Access

We’re pleased to announce that all players who purchase the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ will also have the option of playing on North American servers following the launch. While we still encourage gamers to play on the local servers, which will offer lower latency and more action during peak hours, we recognize that many players have longstanding friendships and rivalries with North American players, and would like to continue playing with them. Because of this, we're giving Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand gamers access to both regions' servers, so they can choose where they'd prefer to play.

This additional access will go into effect as soon as possible. Our intention is to make it available within 60 days of launch -- at that time, players with a copy of the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will automatically gain the option to download the North American version of the game client through Battle.net®. You can check out the FAQ for more information, and we’ll have additional details to share about acquiring the North American client in the near future on our Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand community site.

North American Server Access for Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ Players FAQ

Q: Who is eligible to play on the North American servers?
A: All players, including those in the regions of Hong Kong and Macau, who purchase the English Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand Standard or Collector’s Edition of StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ will have the option of playing on the North American Battle.net® servers in addition to the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand servers if they prefer.

Q: How much will this cost?
A: The option of playing on North American Battle.net servers will come at no additional cost to all players who have purchased the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft II.

Q: How will access to the North American servers be granted?
A: Our intention is to ensure that within 60 days after the launch of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, all players with a copy of the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version will automatically gain the ability to also access the North American servers -- this will be handled through Battle.net account management.

Q: How will I know when I can access the North American servers?
A: We will have additional information on how and when to access the North American servers on our StarCraft II community site.

Q: What will happen with my Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand Battle.net account?
A: Once you get access to the North American Battle.net servers, you will have access to both regions for online play. You can choose which one to play on at any given time, and can switch back and forth at will.

Q: How will my friends list and rankings be handled?
A: All account-specific data, including friends lists, rankings, achievements, statistics, titles, and unlockable rewards, will be tracked separately for each region's Battle.net servers, and will not carry over between them.

Q: If I have already purchased the North American version, can I also play on the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand servers?
A: No. To have the option to play on both servers, you must purchase the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. This solution is specifically targeted to address gamers in Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand who have social relationships with North American players from previous Blizzard Entertainment titles.

Q: Will I be able to play on any of the other StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty regional servers?
A: No. Players who purchase the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft II will have access to the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand and the North American Battle.net servers. No other multi-region play will be available at this time.

Hrm I found this.... sounds like you might just have to wait 60 days or so.

My friends want me playing *now*, not in 60 days... and it all worked in the beta so there's obviously no technical reason that I shouldn't be able to play with friends in the US. I've asked Blizz to change my account to a US one, but that may not end up happening (you know what Blizzard's like!). Alternatively, I should be able to get a refund for my Asian copy and get a US one instead; I have plenty of friends in the US that could get one for me.
