Love SwiftKey but really wish they would bring the long press for special characters and numbers like they have on Android. I have been using SwiftKey since it was beta in Android so I'm very used to it. However I had to revert to stock keyboard for the 3D touch cursor feature which is very useful!

It very well could be. SwiftKey runs near perfect on the iPad Pro, despite not being optimized for it. Even the animations are pretty smooth. But cmon, should a keyboard need 4 gigs of RAM to run well?
It probably has a high kill priority since it is third party.

I still love Swype. Although I don't like to Swype button and the way to get to emoji (although I don't use those much). I do still get that it suggest the wrong words but that is also maybe because I didn't gave it full access rights (temporary to download language, but remove it after that).
Other good alternatives are Go Keyboard and Path Input if you would like to swipe just as I.
I also bought Nintype but couldn't get used to all the features and just simply swipe words like in the previously mentioned keyboards couldn't be done for some reason. The menu/settings within Nintype is also so unclear to me.

For a nice overview of all major keyboards in the App Store check out this overview.

Swiftkey works just fine on 9.2.1 and 9.3 without screwing up. I even removed the regular keyboard so SwiftKey is the only keyboard on the list. It's auto correct is even better than Apple's native keyboard because it learns how you hit keys and adjusts for it.
Yes it's true...

Finally after years of stubbornly locking third party keyboards out of the App Store, Apple caves into demand and allows them in.

I enjoyed Swype and SwiftKey for several years on my Androids before Apple allowed them. Fast fun and very effective, they put Apple keyboard to shame.

Yeah it's pretty cool really not bored of it yet and the bigger screen makes a massive difference coming from a Nexus 6P
Especially since the Nexus 6P display is only 5.7"...
