----------

So far I've picked up : Portal2 and Duke Nukem Forever.

Damn you Steam. I still haven't played the games from LAST year!

I picked up Duke Nukem forever last night, for around £2.50. Bit dissapointed in seems to run in a box in stream through and not full screen! Spoils the ambience.......but the price is excellent!

Sorry I missed yesterday's update, I'll make sure I get it done today. I was busy at work and forgot about it until the end of the day when I just said, oh well.

:D

It shouldn't! All games run fullscreen, there should be an option to fullscreen it somewhere.

Become a member of the Steam 2011 Holiday Group for a free game! I got a copy of Counter-Strike: Source. :D

You don't always get a free game. It's a bit complex this system. But basically by doing certain things/achievements you either get a lump of coal (which is an entry ticket into a raffle) or a voucher/free game.

But still, lucky you ;)!

How many of these are Mac games? Or are we spreading the same BS about Windows games to be played under Boot Camp?

This is STILL a Mac forum, so what about talking about native/direct Mac ports? Thank you.

Love these sales, but I've stumbled into a problem. I've gotten a few discount coupons from their giveaway things (a 25% off any Valve title and 25% off any THQ), but I have all the Valve products I want, and I don't play THQ games. I was wondering if anyone wanted to trade them for anything?

Again, with the sale, I'm in doubt whether to fork out for the Left4Dead bundle (14.99 euro).
Nice low price, but as everyone keeps telling me this game is crap when you play it alone, even 14.99 euro might be too much.
I MIGHT play it online, but most of the time, I'm in for a quick blast. I can't afford to play online for hours.
So should I go ahead anyway ?

Some great savings to be had! Man i love these Steam sales! Just picked up Mass Effect 1 and 2!

Its in the Mac/PC games forum. 95% of these games will never come to mac natively. Windows is by far the superior gaming platform. Just be grateful we have bootcamp

Saying this in the "Mac AND PC Games" forum is rather funny.

Just a little tip to get any game to run fullscreen in steam.

Right Click (Or ctrl click) on the game in your steam library > Click Properties > Set Launch Options > And then type -fullscreen into the box.

:)

You can also set the graphics and resolution using this trick by typing -1920x1080 -highdetail for example.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a go over the weekend!

Happy Holidays!

L4D isn't great in single player, but playing with randoms is almost always as fun and rewarding as playing with friends. In my 500 total hours on both games I've only had a few bad games with randoms :).

That'll work on a few games but it's entirely dependant on the game itself. Almost all games have no command line launch options on Steam.

But a nice one for Valve's own games "-Novid" removes any splash+intro vid screens. (when you play as much TF2 and L4D as me you need that one!)

I think I have just about everything I want already thanks to past Steam Sales. Well, almost, Avadon for £1.49 seems like a good deal. I probably would have picked up Duke Nukem but it seems I missed the daily deal so I'll wait for the recap day to grab that.

Anyone played Silent Hill: Homecoming? I haven't played a game from that series since the original on PSX so I'm kind of interested.

I would give you my copy of L4D2 if I could (I don't think I can). I never play online, only offline, and after the first or second hour, I just couldn't take the game anymore. I purchased it a while ago on a whim during one of these sales and regretted it. If you play single player, download the demo which is 1 level. By the end of the level you'll have experienced 90% of what the game has to offer. Every level seems to be exactly like the previous. Get to the safe house; along the way you'll be randomly jumped.

I'm with you on this one. I game only on Mac OSX, for better or worse. And, yes, while most of the Steam sales are for Windows-based games, there are still good deals on native Mac games. The Counter-Strike game I was gifted by Steam is playable on Mac OSX. Now, whether that was an incredibly lucky roll of the dice, or if Steam actually doles out gifts based on native operating system, I don't know.
