Thanks for the reply, that's what I'll do. So basically I can buy them from the website and they'll be available for download once I log into the client?

yup. I even bought XCOM from my iPhone (through the web browser) and then was able to download it onto my Macbook Pro when i got home hours later. (Paying with Paypal didnt work on the phone but using a credit card did)

So I'm looking for some "must have" games for OS X on Steam. I'm looking for games that are either praised for their originality or they are designed well. Indie games are welcomed.

I purchased 4 games today. With the summer sale going on it was hard to paas up.

I purchased CS: GO, Portal 1 & 2 bundle, and Miami Hotline. All for ~$21.

That price is unbelievable. What OS X games do you recommend? I wanted to get Limbo but it wasn't on sale, I'm sure it's worth $9.99 though. What games are worth checking out while it's on sale. Also, why isn't Bioshock available on Mac for Steam?

Limbo will almost certainly be discounted before the sale ends, so keep checking every day, and even multiple times a day in case it ends up as a flash discount.

As far as other games, you can't go wrong with Half-Life and its expansions (Opposing Force, Blue Shift) and Half-Life 2 and its expansions. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (the first one) is excellent, and I've never once played it online. Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas are always favorites. Psychonauts and Stacking, both Tim Schaffer (sp?) games, are clever and original. On the more indie side, you have Torchlight (Diablo clone), Bastion, and if you're into survival horror, the Penumbra trilogy, Amnesia: The Dask Descent, and The Walking Dead.

I wish Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and the Batman Arkham games were on Steam as well. I think there's something of a reluctance to put these titles on Steam because if you've already bought them on Windows (as I have), they show up in OS X without having to re-buy the game, and thus the Mac developer, be it Aspyr or Feral, doesn't get a cut of the revenue.

Personally I would recommend checking out XCOM: Enemy Unknown and also Borderlands 2 plus the Season Pass DLC. Of course, it all depends on what genres of gaming you like but those are two recent high profile titles that have done very well in the reviews and in gamer's feedback. Both have been on steeply discounted specials and if you watch for them, they may be again although even the regular discounts for games this good are also decent.

Call of Duty 2, Paradox grand strategy games such as Europa Universalis III and Crusader Kings II as well as Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum also come to mind.

Also, Two Worlds II, The Book of Unwritten Tales (both installments), Serious Sam 3: BFE, Call of Duty Black OPS, Duke Nukem Megaton Edition, Shadow Warrior Classic Redux, Endless Space and DLC, Expeditions Conquistador, ALL Valve games are goodness as mentioned above, Civilization IV Complete, Civilization V with all DLC & expansions, King's Bounty series, Wargame European Escalation.

If you like MMO games, both Dungeons & Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online are f2p and available on Steam to try out.

I'd agree with all of the above suggestions being great too.

Here are some of my suggestions for indie games:

Darwinia
Uplink
Defcon
World of Goo
Machinarium
Trine
Multiwinia
Revenge of the Titans
Bastion
The Tiny Bang Story
Limbo
Anomaly: Warzone Earth
Dungeon Defenders
Frozen Synapse

Cubemen
Space Pirates and Zombies
Dungeons of Dreadmor Complete
Botanicula
Sanctum
Defender's Quest
Hotline Miami
Proteus
Evoland
Cubemen 2
Anomaly 2
Anodyne
Prime World Defenders

There! All those suggestions should give you plenty to look at.

Still waiting on Kentucky Route Zero and Rogue Legacy to be discounted more.

Mark of the Ninja
Resident Evil 5
Borderlands 2
XCom
Surgery Simulator 2013
Fez.

I almost bought so many more, but I'm not supposed to be spending any money at the moment. Might get Kentucky Route Zero, however.

I got XCOM and Civ 5 gold (both 75% off) to join the rest of the games I never have time to play :).

I was hoping they would sell Skyrim at 75% off but the best I saw was 40%.

Downloading Borderlands 2 as we speak. It will probably take a couple hours.

10 bucks!

I wanted to get this too, but it lost the vote and it doesn't look like it'll come back again.

A recap from SSS.
