" Samsung said the latest Exynos chips have an eight-core processor, which is more powerful than the current quad-core processors and enhance battery life.

Samsung plans to use the Octa core processor in the upcoming 6.3-inch Galaxy Note III, which will debut later this year, according to the officials. "

Is that a Note III in your pocket or are you....oh nevermind. :)

And I also read that their new tablet will be an 8" not a 7" which would make sense since the phone size is so close (or will be)

When will the madness end? Does anyone else wonder why they keep upping the screen sizes each year? Is there a cry for 6" phones now? No, I don't believe so....for the most part I'm getting told how awesome 4.7" - 5" phones are.....why Samsung, must you continue to make these gargantuan slabs of tech?

Maybe because they can't figure out how to optimize the device properly and instead have to throw a massive battery, huge processor, more RAM etc into it to make it run smoothly? ;)

Just a thought....

I'm just curious as to the reason....its a pretty substantial jump (5.5" to 6.3")

"Man this Galaxy Note 2 is just too damn small."

-No one ever.

Curious to the reason or using this opportunity to bash? I think 6.3" is to big as well but if Samsung keeps increasing their screen size and people keep buying them...

At some point even the people buying phones the size of the Note 2 will think it's too big and there will be less people buying it. Or if they do buy it they might just use it as a tablet :p

The only issue I see is that Samsung will be making a Note 3 which might be too big for someone with a Note 2 who wanted to get the Note 3 had it not been so big. The same thing goes for the S4, I'm worried it'll be bigger than I like. I wouldn't mind it at all if they made a normal sized S4 and a bigger one and the same for the Note line.

Legitimately curious.

I reserve my "bashing" for when I see how ridiculous people look holding these things up to their faces and they cry - "Look at the innovation!!!".....

What is normal-sized?

I guess that depends on every user. I wouldn't mind if they kept it below 5" for the S line but I would rather it be closer to 4.5 than 5".

I guess some people are not so fickle to worry what you think about them.

Function over form sometimes makes sense.

That was going to be my point. In today's world it probably makes sense to add multiple sizes for each device line - though that adds a whole slew of problems with the supply chain and developers/fragmentation.

I'd agree with your sentiment though. In playing with different phones at different stores I feel 4.3" - 4.5" is probably ideal for me, though I don't have a problem with the 4" iP5 and am anxious to get my hands on the 4.7" Nexus 4.

I'm curious as to why they would do this too. The line seems to be getting too blurred.

We shall have to wait and see, but I would imagine that 6.3" will feel like a very small tablet rather than a very large phone.

For me, the Nexus 4 with it's 4.7 inch screen and 16:10 form factor, which means it does not look tall and narrow, is ideal. It is large enough with the high resolution screen to be useful for non-phone applications, yet portable enough to be carried as a phone.

I also have a Nexus 10 for a tablet experience and is a great dual combination with the Nexus 4 so I am not interested in any phone bigger than 4.7 inches or tablet smaller than 10 inches.

Believe it or not, there are some people out there that would like a larger Galaxy Note. A lady friend of mine has a Galaxy Note 2, and she's intimated to me that she would like one with a little larger screen. Since she keeps her phone in her purse, she doesn't mind the additional size. I for one, would not carry a phone that large, especially since I value one-handed operation, but I can understand why some may like the idea of it.

That's pretty much how I feel about my Nexus 4 for the most part, though I wouldn't mind the screen being just a little bit larger (since we have on-screen buttons). I'd like to see them make the top and bottom bezels a tad bit smaller and use that space for additional screen size.

Unlike Apple, Samsung knows that not everyone is the same size, have the same vision capabilities, or have the same uses. Apple thinks that an NBA player has the same size hands as a 12 year old girl and do the same things on it. Contrast this to Samsung who makes different devices that fit different people who are both different sizes and have different needs. Apple forces you to conform to be like the Borg whereas Samsung conforms to you. I for one will be getting the Note 3 with a larger screen than the Note 2 because it is a full computer replacement with great performance and great battery life, something Apple cannot offer.

Well that's ok if you don't mind getting a low-mid range phone which has the smaller screen but both their flagships (S and Note line) are getting bigger and bigger. What if someone wants a flagship phone but doesn't want it to be that big? Samsung isn't that much better than Apple than since they're giving us only 2 options while Apple gives us 1 flagship phone to pick from.

I'm not arguing against the Note 3 being bigger because I will never own a Note and I can see people like you want it and that's completely fine with me. I'm just worried they're not thinking about people like me who do have a limit to how big they'll go but still want a flagship phone.

The day we can customise phones when ordering them will be a great day indeed. Like the way you can choose between a 21" or 28" or whatever monitor, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB RAM, etc, imagine being able to do that for phones!

Considering you don't like the iPhone you sure spend a lot of time talking about it.

"Man this Galaxy Note 2 is just too damn small."

-No one ever.

Being a devout Apple user I can understand how the presence of options in a market space could be novel, bewildering and frightening thing but there are those of us who thing this is a Good Thing and beneficial to a healthy market.

Consumer choice will dictate as to whether this screen size is a success and flourishes, rather than the situation where the manufacturer makes us feel stupid for even suggesting such a thing as they know our requirements better than we do.

;)

Bottom line - if you don't like it, don't buy it but why on earth would you actually complain about having it as an option in the first place?

These phones are only for the NBA. No way small Asians in Japan/Korea/China could use these phones.

I wish my Galaxy Note 2 was bigger. Definitely will trade in my Note 2 for a Note 3 later this year.

Who's complaining? I just was asking if there was actually anyone who wanted this. And I've never heard anyone say the Note 2 was too small.

EDIT: except the guy above me

How many Note 2 owners have you asked? Easy to make baseless claims.
