When will the madness end? Does anyone else wonder why they keep upping the screen sizes each year? Is there a cry for 6" phones now? No, I don't believe so....for the most part I'm getting told how awesome 4.7" - 5" phones are.....why Samsung, must you continue to make these gargantuan slabs of tech?

Maybe because they can't figure out how to optimize the device properly and instead have to throw a massive battery, huge processor, more RAM etc into it to make it run smoothly?

At some point even the people buying phones the size of the Note 2 will think it's too big and there will be less people buying it. Or if they do buy it they might just use it as a tablet

The only issue I see is that Samsung will be making a Note 3 which might be too big for someone with a Note 2 who wanted to get the Note 3 had it not been so big. The same thing goes for the S4, I'm worried it'll be bigger than I like. I wouldn't mind it at all if they made a normal sized S4 and a bigger one and the same for the Note line.

I guess that depends on every user. I wouldn't mind if they kept it below 5" for the S line but I would rather it be closer to 4.5 than 5".

That was going to be my point. In today's world it probably makes sense to add multiple sizes for each device line - though that adds a whole slew of problems with the supply chain and developers/fragmentation.

I'd agree with your sentiment though. In playing with different phones at different stores I feel 4.3" - 4.5" is probably ideal for me, though I don't have a problem with the 4" iP5 and am anxious to get my hands on the 4.7" Nexus 4.

I'm curious as to why they would do this too. The line seems to be getting too blurred.

We shall have to wait and see, but I would imagine that 6.3" will feel like a very small tablet rather than a very large phone.

For me, the Nexus 4 with it's 4.7 inch screen and 16:10 form factor, which means it does not look tall and narrow, is ideal. It is large enough with the high resolution screen to be useful for non-phone applications, yet portable enough to be carried as a phone.

I also have a Nexus 10 for a tablet experience and is a great dual combination with the Nexus 4 so I am not interested in any phone bigger than 4.7 inches or tablet smaller than 10 inches.

Believe it or not, there are some people out there that would like a larger Galaxy Note. A lady friend of mine has a Galaxy Note 2, and she's intimated to me that she would like one with a little larger screen. Since she keeps her phone in her purse, she doesn't mind the additional size. I for one, would not carry a phone that large, especially since I value one-handed operation, but I can understand why some may like the idea of it.

Apple thinks that an NBA player has the same size hands as a 12 year old girl and do the same things on it. Contrast this to Samsung who makes different devices that fit different people who are both different sizes and have different needs. Apple forces you to conform to be like the Borg whereas Samsung conforms to you. I for one will be getting the Note 3 with a larger screen than the Note 2 because it is a full computer replacement with great performance and great battery life, something Apple cannot offer.

Well that's ok if you don't mind getting a low-mid range phone which has the smaller screen but both their flagships (S and Note line) are getting bigger and bigger. What if someone wants a flagship phone but doesn't want it to be that big? Samsung isn't that much better than Apple than since they're giving us only 2 options while Apple gives us 1 flagship phone to pick from.

I'm not arguing against the Note 3 being bigger because I will never own a Note and I can see people like you want it and that's completely fine with me. I'm just worried they're not thinking about people like me who do have a limit to how big they'll go but still want a flagship phone.
