I couldn't disagree more--I hate censorship especially when it comes to the adult entertainment industry. I can choose what I want to see--I don't need Steve to help me make that decision.

Then don't buy Apple's product. Apple produces it, hence they get to decide its capabilities. Pretty simple.

You're acting like this is a shocking development or something. No porn-related apps sold in the app store. Not surprising, and in fact, a pretty safe and sensible strategic decision. You want to view porn, surf the web. WTF do you need a porn app for? LOL

Yep, the official BangBros app. That would just sound marvellous as an advertisement for Apple's product, wouldn't it?

Choosing not to publish something in their app store is not censorship.

Just because you can't get a porn app doesn't mean that you can't access it on your iOS powered device.

But it DOES mean people can whine and moan about it on Apple forums, as if anybody would care. LOL

Agreed. I'm not against porn, but I can see why Steve Jobs doesn't want it sold as a PRODUCT, marketed by Apple, in the App Store. I'm pretty sure that a Bang Bros app would be extremely classy, yes yes.

Just because I disagree with his stance on this certainly isn't going to stop me from buying Apple products. Personally, I don't want any adult entertainment on my iPhone so I can find any of the apps I could possibly want in the App Store. My opinion was simply that an opinion on his stance--but I am not so single minded that it is going to keep me from buying things that I enjoy having like my iPhone.

Mister *LTD* sure is having a hard time understanding that most people complaining about Apple "censorship" actually don't want and don't care about porn apps. They don't like the fact that Steve Jobs won't allow apps like WiFiSync in the store and when somebody mentions such restrictions Steve Jobs says that he "doesn't want porn in the App Store".

Apple gets to censor their own product/decide how it functions. Surprise! It's in their Terms and Conditions.

Get an Android phone or something. Explore the market. Then get an "uncensored" product that offers the same superior user exper . . . oh wait.

They should allow apps to be distributed outside of the App Store. Which will never happen because Steve doesnt want you to actually own your phone, but it would distance Apple from any unsavory apps. Steve is more concerned with keeping control over his customers than letting them actually enjoy the phone to its full capabilities.

THERE ARE Apps for iOS devices that are distributed outside Apple's app store, providing you jailbreak your device which, naturally, Apple recommends you not to do. However:
- has Apple ever sued anyone for issuing a jailbreak tool? No.
- has Apple ever tried to go after websites like Cydia? No.

So basically, in actual facts Apple DOES allow apps to be distributed outside the App Store.

Hell, they even make the iOS SDK publicly available for free. How's that for keeping control over iOS devices users?

I'm not sure why it's a big deal that there is no porn in the App store. If you want porn obtain it yourself. Allowing porn in the app store would create a bad effect.

Because then people would want porn videos in iTunes and that would never happen and if it did some of the big movie studios would pull away from itunes.
Not to mention that you would have all sorts of crazies up in arms wanting apps relating to the KKK , Cooking Meth in 5 easy Steps , ETC in the app store.

Because if you do it for one you would have to do it for all and that's the stance that would come out of it. So if you want porn from the App store then you pretty much waisting time because it's not going to happen. If it did the App store would end up looking like a Ghetto sorta like the Android market.

Customers actually enjoy the experience BECAUSE OF Apple's tight control. It's key to their success.

As the existence of this thread proves, some people do care. You are certainly sensitive about the subject. Just a quick question - do you or do you not visit porn sites from your computer?

Customers actually enjoy the experience BECAUSE OF Apple's tight control. It's key to their success.

I sure can imagine a situation, when tight is good, but that wouldn't be related to Apple.
