Maybe if the iPhone were an open platform, Google wouldn't have made their own.

What's sad is this seems to make the "Bing as default search engine on iPhone" rumor seem more likely.

I never thought I'd see that day when Apple considered Google a bigger rival than MS.

I think Job's fear is irrational and Paranoid. Yes, Google is now in the Phone hardware (barely. Nexus was made by HTC) and Phone OS business. How many Nexus have sold? Is it really a threat to the iPhone? My Wife needed a second phone. I tried to convince her to get an Android based phone. She now owns 2 iPhones. I'm her tech advisor, and from her point of view my case for an android phone wasn't strong enough against her experience with an iPhone.

As for Adobe, did Steve offer to support Flash if they cleaned up the code? How about working with Adobe to put the best possible Flash decoding into Apple products. I think it's a personality clash between two alpha males and it has Jobs acting childish to puff himself up.

MS sucks big time, the only way their catching up is if they make an operating system that actually works which will be never. Google on the other hand is smarter and they are catching up quickly... we must destroy them

his vision is awesome. His ego is horrendous.

He needs to start doing LSD again.

His ego is necessary, otherwise Apple wouldn't create the products that they do. Sometimes a singular vision is needed in order to ship a well define product.

Don't worry, Apple is one company, it is also what gives Apple their character. I prefer honesty over everything and I like Jobs for it. You only have to listen to Ballmer and see how he talks that you wish he would just answer the questions fielded to him with some honesty.

As long as it doesn't hurt Apple's bottom line or anybody's in fact, it's a benefit and not a detriment.

DEAR STEVE JOBS,

I NEVER SAW A BUGGY ADOBE APPLICATION.
HOWEVER, I READ EVERYDAY THAT YOUR IMACS ARE BUGGY AS HELL, WAITING FOR FIXES, AND I CAN RECALL OTHER APPLE BUGS, LIKE THAT ITUNES 2.0 UPDATE IN 2002 THAT ERASED MY EXTERNAL DISK.

thank you!

If Steve is talking about Flash crashing Safari - I agree. Flash has never crashed OSX for me.
The really funny thing is that Flash has never crashed Firefox.
Now who's to blame for being lazy...

As far as the whole google thing - the only one to blame is Apple for letting them into their bed in the first place.
This creating an "evil" enemy is a good marketing scheme though - get people believing then tell them the only way to defeat them is to buy more Apple stuff.

calling Adobe lazy ?? really ?? the company that has one if the best line of softwares and they are still able to sell them at a price of macbook

calling google evil ? the company that offer so many great FREE services
actually since i made the switch to mac i realized that mac is the real evil, trying to control every user with medieval witch hunters style, even MS looks like an angle (especially since the iphone release) when they whored the iphone (and us the mac crowd) to wireless carriers

This site is pretty hilarious.

This blog only deals with Adobe on Mac OS. Doesn't prove Adobe is lazy. Just that they think little of Mac OS.

Jobs said: Whenever a Mac crashes more often than not it’s because of Flash.

Well, my PC only crashes when I have iTunes open. So does that mean Apple builds junk software? No. It means Apple focuses more on building software for its own platform than rival platforms.

I have NEVER had any problem with Adobe software. Ever.

Some examples of Windows screwups from that site:

Doesn't prove anything. With a few minutes and a VB script, I could create those same things and claim it's from Adobe. The proof is in the sales. If Adobe was a lazy company, CS4 would not be the standard in EVERYTHING.

Oh man- this is almost as good as his response when told that a vp at Microsoft said the zune had become a legitimate competitor to the iPod:

"was he inebriated? Do you even know anyone who owns a zune?"

LOL! Jobs is a genius!

Your logic is broken...

I think Adobe is lazy BECAUSE it's "the standard in EVERYTHING". Without being challenged to innovate through strong competition, Adobe has had the luxury of being able to push out shoddier products. This isn't a new phenomena, look at Microsoft, Intuit (even Apple in some markets) that dominate their industries.

Also, do you REALLY believe that someone took the time to deliberately engineer buggy GUI's on Windows using VB in order to sabotage Adobe's image for producing beautiful, bug-free interfaces? If you answered yes to this question you might want to take a look at this article.

You're new here so I will cut you some slack. Read this:
http://www.kungfugrippe.com/post/199148868/adobe-bricks

Basically what Jobs means is that Adobe is not innovating or using any of the technologies inside OS X. Smaller companies are and you get gems such as Pixelmator.

I seem like the only person around here that doesn't care about Flash support. HTML5 is just around the corner and the only flash based sites on the iPhone/iPad already have dedicated apps.

If you count several years as being "just around the corner."
Silly me, when i buy a device i want it to be ready for today, not an undetermined date in the future when HTML5 takes over.

It's ironic that the Mac was introduced via the infamous 1984 commercial.

It seems now that Steve wants to be the one and only voice in what a computer should and should not do. He's CEO of Apple - he's of course looking out for his company's best interest. Don't think for a second he really cares what's best for the rest of the world.

Same thing with his keynote last week. Naturally he's going to say the iPad is magical and yadda yadda - that's his job. To excite and to represent HIS company. Would you expect him to act otherwise. That also doesn't make whatever he says true. He gives great press quotes. And by repeating things over and over, he's hoping THAT is what sticks in the minds of the consumer.
