Does it bother anyone else that Steve never wears a belt?

I mean, if you are gonna tuck a t-shirt into jeans you really should wear a belt! :)

Or perhaps he likes people to be able to see his waist size on the back of his Levi's? ;)

I'm a belt whore.

I think Steve just feels that he's most casual in those clothes rather than stuff other corporate executives like to wear. If the rest of Apple dressed that way, that's great.

Besides, he has to have other clothes than that, I just don't think he wears them often. I have about five different outfits (which I will add some more this summer cuz I'm taking this semester off and getting a job).

The truth of the matter is that Steve Jobs is actually a set of triplets, none of whom is really named Steve. They figured out long ago that they'd be much more successful "merging" themselves into one person and being seen as a super-productive genius than by each getting their own jobs (pun not intended).

To help conceal this, they all dress identically to avoid having their secret destroyed by a simple wardrobe miscalculation.

You can, if you look carefully, see hints. Odd weight fluctuations in pictures that are supposedly taken only days apart, variations in stubble, minor scars in different locations.

This has worked out quite well for them, and at any given time 2/3 of them are relaxing. The only real problem has been for Mrs. Jobs, who is constantly exhausted.

steve drives me nuts. You figure a rich guy like him would subsribe to GQ (maybe we should buy it for him?), I mean come on, im a poor college kid and i manage to dress with more suave-ness than him. Stevie needs to rock some RL, or Burberry or something. i would kill (not literally...yet) to be able to afford such sweet clothing! he probably drives a hybrid civic too instead of rocking a TVR or a McLaren...

WTF?

Steve Jobs wears the same type of clothes everday because he, like Albert Einstein, doesn't want to exert any 'mental effort' in picking out his clothes?

What kind of nonsense is that?

I mean, come on, how much 'mental effort' does it actually take to decide on your outfit for the day? Does he eat the same cereal every morning, too?

What complete crap. Boy, I've read some pretty lame things at this forum, but pffft.

I remember reading somewhere (years ago) that he always wears a black polo neck and jeans to work.
Maybe it has something to do with not having to choose what to wear everyday.
Kinda like Micky Rourke in 9 1/2 weeks.

It does make sense in a laazy kind of way.

I wish I had enough of the same pair of clothes to wear it everyday and to not have anyone question whether or not I was changing. Good for him everyone should have their own look that they wear everday.

he wears the same thing for every keynote because its more or less what hes done for a while now, its a tradition. If he suddenly changed there would be an uproar on these boards im sure of it.

For all we know he could be wearing a suit any day of the week...its not like you see him on a daily basis.

Most people who spend a lot of money on clothes, do so because they care what OTHERS think of them. They like to be "in" with the crowd. At great expense of money and time, they have to look cool. They do this often because they are insecure with themselves and/or have nothing else of meaning in their lives.

Einstein wore the same clothes because he didn't worry about what other people thought of him. He also didn't want to be distracted from the things he thought was more important. He put all of his efforts into his research and let everything else go... hence the phrase "absent-minded" professor. Imagine the freedom of getting dressed out of necessity instead of what needs to look good for a particular day.

I have a friend that never buys new clothes. He has one business suit that he wears to weddings and special events, but it's really old looking. All of the other times he wears t-shirts and hemp based shorts with sandles. He gets everything second hand, even though he can afford to buy new. His look is part of his personality, same as Steve Jobs.

I admire people who don't care what others think about them. They dress for a purpose, not to stroke their egos, or out of what society expects them to do.

Maybe Steve should just forget about clothes all together and do his next keynote in the buff.

That would REALLY light up these boards!

The look he has now beats the bow tie he wore back in the '80s. I'm still trying to forget the suspenders.

Sure you're not thinking about Larry King? :D

True, and would we not be kinda disappointed if Jobs did change his wardrobe? Don't we expect this look from him?! ;) :)
I suspect he'll be changing to an all Nike wardrobe for the next presentation.

...He considers it one less thing to worry about in one's day. Brilliant.
He should have a minion write a widget with outfit instructions for each day, linked to iCal so he doesn't end up in a bikini the day of a WWDC or something obviously, possibly link it to his weather widget too to avoid frostbite aswell.

He is not the only one. When I was in school the head of the computer science department wore a black tee shirt every day I saw him. Four years stright that I know of. I graduated in 1982 so I think this predates Jobs doing the same.

Wasn't just a naked black teacher was it?

Your focus on Steve and his lack of fashion sense seem to be masking a deep seeded vestiphobia. What you need is a job in retail so you can work out your issue of telling people, who have much more money than you, what to wear.
