It's time for him to be replaced.

The Mobile Me launch was botched.

Macbook Pro's and iMac have quality issues (screens). They can't seem to get a consistent upgrade cycle since the last few years are plagued by going passed their normal upgrade cycles (iMac's are still way overdue for an update).

iPhone 4 was clearly rushed. And Apple is taking lots of heat for it.

iPhone 4 White now delayed for stupid reasons. Can't get white paint on the product? Please. Apple has been making white products for years. Lame excuse. Just say you are fixing the antenna issue (or have fixed it) and that's why you aren't releasing until fall. Hard to believe this would be an issue since Apple are supposedly "testing" their phones before release. Why is black paint easier than why paint? Lame.

There's clearly an issue with iPhone 4. Steve basically said there's an issue without making it an issue. Why? Because he said he wanted to be sure to identify the problem instead of doing a band-aid fix.

iPad can't seem to get iOS 4 until NOVEMBER for some strange reason. Not to mention iPad STILL has yet to launch in other countries.

Numberous sourcing issues from iPad screens from LG to i5 chips that should be in 2010 Macs by now.

MobileMe still has problems and frequently suffers outtages.

Looking at Apple PR's executive page, a company this large would seemingly have way more executives helping to run the company. I think at this point, Steve is in over his head.

There's more, but I'm getting worked up.

Sadly enough, Jobs is dieing... literally. He's unhealthy. His mind isn't on 100% Apple anymore.

I mean it's hard to replace a guy like that though, he started the company, sold it, bought it back from certain doom, and made it what it is today.

He just needs more help is all.

I am almost betting that he was just as shocked as us about the white phone, probably didn't know anything about it, got a call while at home or something about it from some executive.

Oddly enough, the way they are doing business, by being very "hush hush" about the changes and things, is the best way to do it, things will blow over more quickly believe it or not.

Now - all of this...what does it have to do with Steve Jobs? Microsoft has issues, Sony has issues, Samsung has issues, HP, Dell, Asus...they all have issues. Why Apple and Steve Jobs specifically?

You're not supporting your facts and giving evidence (or accurate evidence).

I don't think Apple has the experience of good PR when things go wrong as other companies do. I thought they handled the Antenna issue very poorly.

The Mobile Me launch was botched.

Fortunately, Apple have learnt from this and upgrading MobileMe components gradually rather than in one big bang approach.

I'm sure as long as the company are still raking in literally billions of dollars per quarter, the board and shareholders aren't going to mind too much whether Steve is CEO.

Please, Apple was just doing what it always did, ignored it and hoped it would go away, but in this case people got pissed off and became incredibly vocal.

It's not Steve that can't handle a large company, it's Apple.

Apple has never been 100% great at what it does, almost every product it's released has had an issue or 2 somewhere down the line with one revision or another.

Why do you think Apple or Steve Jobs owes you anything? If you don't like it, buy a Sony Ericsson or a Sony laptop.

Sounds a lot like 1985.

IMO it's way different now though. Apple is hitting one home run after another, pushing the CEO out would be madness. The way the stock value has gone, I think there would be a shareholder revolt on the mere rumor.

What is there to update on the iMac's? Are there faster desktop CPU's available yet in enough supply?

iPhone 4 was clearly rushed. And Apple is taking lots of heat for it.

Was the Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy S, etc rushed too? They seem to be having the same "issues" as the iPhone 4.....

iPhone 4 White now delayed for stupid reasons. Can't get white paint on the product? Please. Apple has been making white products for years. Lame excuse. Just say you are fixing the antenna issue (or have fixed it) and that's why you aren't releasing until fall. Apple's other white products are plastic. Apple is now dealing with glass. The supplier can't get the consistency to Apple's standards so Apple is delaying it to either find a new supplier or wait until the current supplier gets its act together. I find it funny you criticize Apple's quality on the iMac and MBP, but when they do something to improve the quality of the product, you still complain.

There's clearly an issue with iPhone 4. Steve basically said there's an issue without making it an issue. Why? Because he said he wanted to be sure to identify the problem instead of doing a band-aid fix.

So they investigate what the users complain about. A smart company would do that. Even if the conclusion is, " It isn't a problem".

iPad can't seem to get iOS 4 until NOVEMBER for some strange reason. Not to mention iPad STILL has yet to launch in other countries.

I will give you the iOS 4/iPad thing. But, how smart would Apple be to launch the iPad in other countries, when they are already struggling to meet the demand in the existing markets?

Numberous sourcing issues from iPad screens from LG to i5 chips that should be in 2010 Macs by now.

So it is Jobs fault for LG producing every LCD panel it can for the iPad and Intel's stupid fight with NVIDIA and their own chip shortages?

MobileMe still has problems and frequently suffers outtages.

Stuff goes down for maintenance all the time.

There's more, but I'm getting worked up.

Apple is not perfect. No company is. And it seems like Apple and Steve is damned if they do and damned if they don't with you because you seem to be complaining about everything despite some contradicting your own complaints over the quality of the products.

What crack is the OP smoking?

This decade belongs to Apple. Mostly thanks to Steve.

I suppose their record-breaking quarters are a signal that there is something wrong?? LOL

Point the finger at Microjunk. Now THERE is a company with problems.

I love OS X and Macs. But lets be honest here. SJ has always been a snake oil salesman. He is very gifted at salesmanship, has appointed good people (Johnny Ive), and gets people motivated. Most Apple products have been slightly better than the competition and just good enough not to make SJ's marketing statments seem too foolish, i.e. "insanely great'" or "magical."

With the recent exception of the unibody MBP, which in my opinion stands head and shoulders above any notebooks ever produced, and OS X, most Apple hardware is average. Why would the Apple board get rid of the CEO that takes this average hardware and makes bucket of money? They wouldn't - until now.

The next few years should be interesting. SJ is betting the company that mobile is the main way to go. That could cost Apple dearly. More people are going to want and need "trucks" than SJ thinks. I could see him being ousted in a few years.

It's going to make them an obscene amount of money.

SJ bet the farm on the iPad. It was *his* baby. And look at where we are now. Snake oil salesman? LOL SJ is the only real visionary in tech today, bar none.

Moronic idea, and thread. Apple's market cap is one of the largest in the world of any company in any sector. Jobs is probably the best CEO on the planet right now. "Replacing" him would crater the share price and cost investors billions. Next idea.

Steve Jobs is the epitome of a bad manager and I don't think anyone would argue that his managment style is poor. Does that equate into an inability of running a multibillion dollar corporation. No.

In fact it was SJ who literally saved apple from the jaws of bankruptcy and guided apple through many changes to the point where they are extremely successful.

Is it time for him to step aside? I think an argument can be made for him to give up the CEO reigns but not because of his inability to run a large company.

Steve Jobs was able to bring Apple back to profitability—Sculley, Spindler, and Amelio ran the company into the ground, and lost their focus on what Apple was supposed to do. I do think that Jobs has made mistakes, but those mistakes are comparable to, or fewer than, other companies' mistakes. As another poster said, Microsoft has made far more mistakes this decade—for instance, look at Courier, Kin, and Windows Vista. They're starting to get a bit more momentum with Windows 7, but the Microsoft juggernaut of the mid- to late 90s is no more.

I've posted this before and I still think I'm right.

Look at the man's life, his personal failures in his life, his deeply-held philosophies and faith-based (NOT Christian-based) beliefs. Then couple this with his first rejection from Apple and his Second Coming, only to be waylaid by some significant, and potentially life-threatening, health issues. You will quickly see EXACTLY what the mans goal is before he dies.

Apple = Steve Jobs. Physically, Fiscally and if he has way about it...Spiritually as well.

Jobs has always been open in his desire for immortality; at the same time, he has always staked his immortality on the immortality of his machines. And machines always die. No matter how long they last, death always outlasts them. It takes the long view, and in the long view Apple is, in fact, Sony; in the landfill, the iPod is the Walkman. And so, although Jobs has changed three industries forever -- personal computing with the Apple II, music with the iPod and iTunes, and movies with Pixar -- and is on the verge of changing a fourth with the iPhone, his legacy is so large that it's uncertain, his success so comprehensive that it precludes successors. He is the ghost in the Apple machine, and "without him," says the engineer, "Apple goes on in some form but it's a different company." There is not another corporate executive in America or possibly in the world who has implanted the idea of himself so deeply in both his company's and his country's culture; not another corporate executive who may be said to exist as an idea at all. But the captivating thing about the idea of Steve Jobs is not its existence, or the difficulty one faces in defining it; the captivating thing is that it is not transmissible in human terms.

Read the rest....I totally concur.

Razeus, I think what is best here is that you post your CV and show us your qualifications. Clearly you know what you're talking about and with a business mind like yours I think we can all benefit from spending an afternoon reading what you write from behind your computer screen.

Neither Steve Jobs nor Apple owe you anything. Be grateful that you live in a time where we have the option to purchase such incredible technology. Things are awesome right now, so ****.

The attenuation page at Apple.com is utter ********. You are all sheep baaing at Jobs' every beck and call.

I returned iPhone 4 because it dropped signal from application of a single finger. A single naturally laid finger. Post as many 'death grip' marketing videos as you'd like Apple. In the end, it's just marketing a broken device.

Calm down tiger. If this thread somehow turned into a thread about products Apple makes then people went the wrong direction. the OP, in his infinite wisdom has declared Steve Jobs incapable of handling a large company. I respectfully disagree and refute his findings with very public and very real data (ie: 10-K filings).
