FYI, there are others ways to get rid of badges too. This just happened to be the tweak I tried.

Yep that removes the badge but I had to edit the plist file as you have mentioned to get rid of that pesky "1" sign next to 'General' under settings.

Awesome. Glad it worked for you. It's a simple solution to fix that and you don't have to install a tweak to hide.
