But I don't want to run "many hours in power-saving modes". I want to run in full performance mode. I don't want my laptop to slow down to a crawl just because its not plugged in.

You can run full performance mode... The difference is that you yourself choose speed vs stamina, not the vendor of your laptop.

You still don’t get it. I don’t want to chose. I want to have it both. I don’t want to mess with weird hacks and fight the laptop power management, and I don’t want my battery life to be reduced to a pitiful fraction just because I decided to work sitting on a couch instead of plugging in my power cable. Why would I choose an inferior solution when I can have a laptop that gives me top class performance without any drawbacks?

Was it clear from the video whether they took pains to ensure the battery wasn't charging during these benchmarks?
I didn’t delve that far in, but it would also increase the at the wall measurements for sure. The video segment in question was intentionally going for a “load down all the things” peak measurement of what it would pull from the wall. It wasn’t trying to replicate any specific workload, and the individual was transparent about that.

The page though, that was garbage. As far as I can tell, it was effectively some SEO nonsense piggybacking on someone else’s content to get ad impressions and had nothing to do with the video itself.
