You really need to relax and get some manners. Mob rule helps nobody.

What kind of a society would punish theft with painful death?!

Wanna live? Don't steal...

What can't you understand, I hate people with too much sympathy...BLAH...

You work hard for your money to buy things you want just for someone to come along and take it from you!

Twice someone tried to rob me, the first person I ran after and got my SH*T back! They were lucky I didn't knock some teeth out in the process.

Second person had a gun and wanted to steal my phone, he did(of course) but as he was turning around the corner I yelled if I could have my sim card, he came back and gave it to me... I appreciate a robber with good character!

That is a trouble with whole society, people don't file reports, and no one is taking thief as a serious problem. For a small crime they get out of jail or while they are in jail they just live from tax money.

Same thing happened to my first iPhone a few day after I bought it. I filed a police report but it didn't really help. Looks like you will have to buy a new one :(
There are some softwares out there that you can install on iPods/iPhones/iPads that will detect whenever the device is connected to a computer and will send the IP address of the computer to an online account, maybe you can install such a software on your next iPad.

I think orbicule is a good app for this. Not sure if it's out for the iPad yet.

Yeah the roommates are out of the question though i would not be surprised if it was someone in my social circle.

If your roomates were home it was them. Period. And they did it because you are gullible and passive. Grow a pair and tear the place up. I guarantee they return it and say it was a joke.

THAT F*&*((##%@^@&#*(#( PISS THE SH*&#*#(# OUT OF ME.

All thief's deserves to be hanged!

+1 I get angry when I read stuff like this.

This can't help you now but ensure that you have renters insurance and that you photograph everything you have with receipts (although receipts aren't necessary) and keep it on file with the insurance company (most don't even require photos actually). Renters insurance is cheap, like $100 a year cheap in a lot of places and covers things such as this.

If my roomates allowed this to happen, the baseball bat would come out and I'd take retribution against their stuff.

Second, everyone should engage the passcode with 10 try wipe and just enable the 4h delay between asking. Works great and kills the ipad and saves your data if stolen.

I have always been nervous in situations like that. I even get nervous around home when I stayed for a while last year, but my step-brother only tends to steal the family's money. It would be pretty damn obvious if he suddenly had my computer or phone and he is too lazy to go pawn it.

It's more likely that it was some Apple fanboy who can't afford one. All Apple fanboys are asocial and malevolent. With a high probability it's even someone hanging out on Macrumors. Those are the worst. The guy's probably reading this thread now and having a laugh. Maybe he even posted here (from your iPad) that you should blame your roommates.

There are a few non-adult, very bad suggestions to this problem mentioned here.

Here are some better ones.

1) never get violent.
2) never accuse anyone unless your sure.
3) don't get suspicious. It only makes thing worse. Most likely it was someone on the periphery of your social circle, or you may not even know them.

All you can do is move on, and take future precautions.

Most likely you will hear through the grapevine who did it. Unfortunately, this will be long after anything can be done about it. When you do, forget about it.

The OP sounds like a mature , friendly fellow who would not fly off the handle and make a bad situation much worse, which is exactly what should be done.

IMHO

It' only stuff.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Sorry, but unless you live in an open sided tent, or there are signs of forced entry, I kinda doubt you'd have had your ipad stolen if you didn't have roommates.

Maybe they're just playing a prank on you.

when did you buy it, if you paid with mastercard, american express, or visa you're probably applicable for the extended warranty thing which includes losing or getting it stolen within so many days of purchase and then you can get it replaced for free

Has something happened with the OP's situation then? Trying to work out why this thread suddenly got active again after nearly 3 weeks. I must have missed something.

Bad advice. Defend your iPad.

That's why I never leave the house without it.

Hope you rec...

Who am I kidding? You're not gonna find it. Take it as a loss.
