Maybe Apple will do the right thing this time and it will have 4gb RAM.

But this is Apple and they may want to eek out every cent of profit. :D

Looks like I'm one of the few that went with 64GB (SG Wifi). Upgrading from the original Air. I am debating about placing an order for a 256GB version instead since it's only $100 more, but I don't even know what I'd use all that storage for. I've been managing the 1st gen Air w/ 32GB okay for the most part. Mostly plan on using the pro for note taking, editing docs on the go, and standard photo edits while on the road.

Thoughts about your reason for ordering 256GB over 64GB?

Value. Traditionally, the middle capacity model offered the best value. At least IMO.

If you plan on keeping your iPad 3-5 years, then that extra storage is going to come in handy. During that time it is quite possible that new apps will be produced that will take advantage of the extra space. You might find new uses for the iPad that you couldn't envision at the time of your purchase.

That's normally the route I've always gone with iPhones/iPads in the past. The Air I've had for what, 3-4 years now since it came out? If anything, with more and more apps and storage being moved to the cloud it seems like more space would be less necessary in the future than yesterday. Your last point is what has me on the fence about changing my order. While I don't see needing 256GB of hard space on an iPad today, could I find some new way to use that in the future?

I too ordered the 64Gb SG WiFi version. I currently have a Ipad 4th Generation, and it still works fine, just slow. I don't use the memory, so 64Gb suits me fine. I really only use my current Ipad for email/surfing the net, watching video's and listening to music.
I am planning to use the new Ipad to replace, as much as possible, my PC, which I find I don't really use much anymore.

I was on the fence. I was expecting the old storage configurations and in Australia at least the 128gb was the same price as the new base model.
I went with the 256gb and paid the extra as I want to future proof myself. 64 would probably have been enough but i just wasn't sure and I want this thing to last. My Mini Retina has done my proud for about 4 years I think.

I was going for the 64 but choose the 256 instead. Two reasons : value and 4K video. I use every camera I can for work and If I can have the iPhone 7 4K cam on the iPad (I have a 6 Plus), it would be a shame not to use it.

Ordered iPP 10.5 Space Grey 256GB with the Keyboard at Best Buy (free $25 gift card). It will replace my older iPad 3rd generation.

Ordered the SG 64gb, cancelled 30 min later when I realized I was getting 4 times the storage for only $100 more and went with the 256. With iOS 11 and its file system, as well as a 4k shooter on the ipad and a powerful enough cpu and gpu that look like 4k editing on this beast will be possible, more than ever its worth jumping to at least the 256gb model for the price difference. your selling yourself short with the 64gb even if you can convince yourself till earths end that its all you need. If you can afford a $650 ipad pro, you can afford to jump up $100 bucks for the higher storage. Purchase through BHphoto where it tax free and theres 50$ towards the 100$ you are saving. Even buying from apple direct through the student page, government page, etc , all which don't verify you in any way will save you at least $20. Be smart.

Ordered the 10.5 inch, Space Grey 256GB with WiFi and Cellular. Ordered the Pencil and Smart Keyboard also! upgrading from an iPad Air 2 so I'm really looking forward to it! :) Was going to get the 12.9inch model, but the 10.5 inch is more than sufficient. Especially regarding size and WEIGHT... I do a lot of reading on my iPad, so the 10.5 inch made more sense.

I ordered 10 minutes after the Apple Store came back online on Monday, it said ships in 5-business-days, and it's still in the "Processing" stage. Hopefully have it by Monday or Tuesday of next week.

I ended up cancelling the 64GB model and ordering the 256 the same day, but didn't even think to go to Adorama, BH, or some place else. Just ordered a 256 through Adorama which for some reason was only $729 instead of $749. Being in Los Angeles, that saves me 10% (roughly $75) in taxes. Great suggestion!
