Also, so much debris would be attracted to the screen like it was a magnet, and fingerprints were easily imprinted on the device. Now that I think about this, I'll probably stay with a screen protector but will give it a shot without one.

It's always good to try that imo. I recently tore off my iCarez protector and was shocked to see the clarity of the screen. I used it for a few days.

However, I like dark mode and I love having brightness around 10-15%. So trying to read a book with that much glare and seeing fingerprints again ... I put another iCarez back on. The clarity difference wasn't enough to bother me and my glare and ability to read for hours and hours came back.

Everyone's different. My wife can't stand screen protectors - so she doesn't use any - and she uses her devices more than I do. :)

I wonder why they don’t sell the iCarez screen protectors in the UK? Perhaps they don’t have any kind of distribution agreements in Europe yet. Maybe worth reaching out to them through their website.
I did, they just said they don't sell them in the UK or amazon UK

I'm really struggling guys. I know people have varying opinions on this. I've personally always used protectors on my phones and iPads, but for my recent iPads, I want to do more drawing with the Apple Pencil. I also heard that removing screen protectors can damage or remove the coatings from Apple (is this true?)

Anyway, if using an Apple Pencil will be a bigger part of my workflow, do you recommend a screen protector or no? From what I've seen the "paper" protectors seem kind of gimmicky and hurt the clarity of the screen a little (which I need for my work)

I will be using the Smart Keyboard so the screen will be covered when not in use.

Open to any input at all. Thanks!

Protector for phone, bare glass for iPad. I think you'll find that's sound policy.

I have a spigen glass screen protector on my pro, it feels no different than the underlying glass.

I usually wipe down my screen/pencil nib after an hour or two of use too.

I used the Apple Pencil daily with my 11” iPad Pro for a year straight. No scratches, no screen protector.

You’ll be fine ??
How meticulous did you have to be in cleaning your screen before using your pencil. I’m not 100% sure, but I think my previous 10.5pro developed faint (I mean crazy super faint and only visible with screen off and in bright light inspecting it) from me using the pencil on it without a screen protector.

I have an 11pro for 14 months now, and I use my pencil very rarely on it. I hate screen protectors, but I’m a bit paranoid using the pencil until I clean the screen, which can be a hassle and so I end up not using the pencil as much as I like.

I wasanti screen protector on my iPhone for years. I put one on my iPad Pro and I cant tell it’s there. I did a good job installing it. And I use the with the pencil sll the time. It’s a lear protector. I did try paper like and the matte was too much. It made websites images too dull, and slightly blurry.

All the people here who say that I have never used a Screen Protector on my any devices and they are even today scratch free. Please all of you guys just take your device one day to a Apple Store and try to watch the screen under those glaring Studio Lights (The Lights that they use even for Photo Sessions and Modelling) You will get tired of counting on how many Scratches you come across.

That will be a new awakening for all of you guys. lol !

Certain Scratches, Hairline Scratches only appear under certain lighting conditions !! (Maybe that is not real world usage scenario) But You will find dime a dozen and your belief will be shattered like a Fragile Glass !!

I can honestly say I cannot see any scratches on my two iPads and XS Max under any lighting conditions.

Ive had iPads going back to the first one, and have never used screen protectors on them. And I’ve used the pencil daily on my 2017 and recently received 2020 iPad Pro. I have yet to see any scratches. I do wipe down my iPad and pencil every morning with a lightly dampened microfiber towel, to keep dirt and oils to a minimum. Hope this helps you out!

What‘s the point? I don’t use my iPad with 1000-lumen spotlights on it, nor do I view the screen through a microscope to search for something that doesn’t in any way affect its usability or my enjoyment of the device. I’m sure everybody’s device has microscopic scratches on it.

I am very careful with all of my possessions, because that’s just how I am. My iPad is a tool that I use in my professional work, and these devices all get replaced every few years. I’m careful with it as I would be with any important tool, but not to the extent that worrying about microscopic scratches becomes will distract me from enjoying the device. If my iPad has scratches, I don’t see them, and therefore it’s not an issue. But I’m not going on a crusade to find them.

I used to put screen protectors on my iPad but found since I always have either a smart folio from Apple or a smart case on the iPad which protected the back and the display when closed I didn't need them. I still use one on my iPhone though but no more on the pads and the screens have been mint condition when I've traded the devices in. The apple pencil is designed not to damage the screens. Ditch the iPad screen protectors but always use a case
