The 3G iPad I ordered June 5 has been "at local FedEx facility, SHENZHEN CN" since June 18! Maybe it has been pushed aisde while they are shipping the iPhone4 pre-orders? It is promised for June 24, the same day the iPhones are, but if they dont ship it soon I dont see how it will arrive on time (and it is intended as a birthday present!)

Stuck in Shenzen

I'm in basically the same position as you are. I ordered my iPad on the morning of June 5, and it has been "stuck" in Shenzhen, China. According to my tracking information, Fedex received shipment notification on June 17, picked up the iPad on June 18, and it has been sitting in Shenzhen since June 18.
Fedex says delivery by tomorrow, June 23, at 10:30 AM. I'm skeptical now, but we'll see what happens.

Mine says the exact same thing. Nice to know that it is in transit although I wish they would update the delivery date. I don't see how it will be possible to deliver within 26 hours if it is just leaving China now.
Appears that there is a batch of iPads that sat around while the Phones were shipped (including mine, so I wont complain about that), but the issue is whether these are now moving forward or they have become "lost" in the system. If the latter, then the question is what will it take to shake them loose?
You wouldn't complain about your ipad sitting around not being shipped so that the iphones can get shipped? I think that is bs. What makes the iphone so much more important than the ipads we ordered 2.5 weeks ago? Sure I'm being selfish but I ordered my ipad 10 days before preorders for the iphone were even being taken and I'm impatient and I want my ipad! They knew they were going to have to ship the iphones so they should have compensated in the delivery estimate.
Has your status been updated at all this morning?
I ordered mine on June 6th and show the same i.e, that it went Shengzhen China on June 18, cleared and has been sitting there since June 21 Still has estimated delivery of 6/23 - has to get out there soon!
It has only changed to say "in transit" but its still in Shenzen! I dont see how it will be possible to be delivered on scheduled (tomorrow by 10:30) if it isnt even at the Hong Kong airport yet.
And, yes, this is quite disturbing, (phone not withstanding) as this item is intended to be my birthday present to my daughter, at her request, and she will be quite disappointed if it isn't available.
I'm another one with the same problem. Ordered my iPad on 6/5 and had to wait until 6/18 before it was released to FedEx. My iPad sat in Shenzen since the 18th and is now in transit as of today. Can't see how it can get to NJ by 10:30am tomorrow morning like they say.
I also agree that it sucks that we had to wait so people who ordered their iPhones on the 15th can get them first.
I was going to get one from the Apple store on Wednesday last week because they had gotten my model in stock and had the unlimited plan available on them, but my iPad changed status to "prepared to ship" and I could not longer cancel my order. The worst thing was then it sat in that status for two days.
Not happy with Apple or FedEx at this point. This was/is my first Apple product, after all this hassle it will probably be my last. (remember we still have to go through the 2 hour long wait to get our unlimited data from AT&T)

If you look at the past things, things reach a point where they just don't get updated!
To the poster worried about his being in Alaska - there was a guy in the first batch (UPS) that got his IN Alaska before we got ours in FL, and his was in alaska, flew to __(because i'm seriously drawing a blank on the UPS hub)___ and BACK to alaska!
It should make it, and the tracking is probably behind too with all the iPhones clogging the system.

Mine says it left Alaska at 4:18p.m. From there it goes to Memphis then to my location is that correct? I want to be able to check the tracking in the morning and know if it will be here or not so I don't waste a day off for no reason. I wish fedex would update their site every second and show me gps coordinates of where my ipad is.
It still might come today. If it doesn't I am going to be livid with fedex. Mine also says that it left Memphis about the same time and has no updates other than that. However...they updated my estimated delivery from 6/23 @ 12pm to 6/23 @2pm. Because they at least updated that I am off of work today and just hoping.
My iPad appears to have flown directly from Anchorage to Indianapolis (hard to believe, but that's what it appears to be), and it departed Indianapolis for our town early this morning. So I'm still expecting delivery this morning by 10:30 AM, according to Fedex. Very nice, very surprising.... very happy Apple customer here!

I'm so jealous! My last status update says it is at the destination sorting facility which is like 2 hours from me. It usually goes from there to a fedex place like an hour away then from there to the delivery truck.
However...this update was at 6:12a.m. and it didn't show up until about 10 minutes ago so it might already be at the other fedex or maybe even on the truck!!!!
If my ipad comes today I will say that fedex has some ninja shipping skills. Or they rig the update system to make me think that they do!

Just a word of further information: when I called FedEx after seeing that by the last information the package was in Memphis, they told me that their system is overloaded and isnt updating as it should, so its "quite probable that your package is on the van for delivery". I would recommend calling FedEx to be sure there is a trace in your package if it isnt delivered by the time shown on their tracking form.
YAY yes fedex is definitely behind. I just got mine and their website still says it is at the sorting facility! WOOOHOOOO!
