This is a statement and not a reason. What is the reason for not just ordering it online and letting this post die?
thats really not the problem anymore, im not in the dilemma anymore for whether to wait for my brother as im willing to just drive 70 miles to him and we'll go to the apple store this saturday and ill buy the imac.

It should happen. No one can make up your mind for you. You either wait until the end of the month to see, or you buy now. I am waiting.
I heard that from a representative on Apple's online store chat. Granted, she was trying to sell me the Ipod Touch, I would take it with a grain of salt. Personally, I would wait until the end of the month. If there are no free Ipod Touch promotions by then, chances are there will not be this summer. Or, you can buy the IMac now and not open it. If the promotion does happen, you can return the IMac and rebuy it. Just check the Apple return policy.
From personal experience, I would advise buying it online. Much easier to get the discount and free shipping.

Back to school has started around the end of May for the last several years. It WILL happen.
It's only free if your printer is $100 or less.
I would like to point out that there are factors pointing to the fact Back to School will not happen.
The free Ipod Touch is given out free since 2008 or 2007 because Apple tries to clear out inventory in preparation for new Ipods in September. However, it looks like this year, the Iphone will be released in September, pushing the Ipod release back. Therefore, there is no need to clean out inventory.
Again, we will see in a few weeks.

This is absolutely wrong. There are much more profitable ways to clear out inventory so your reasoning is WAY off. If it were all about clearing inventory then they would do it in a way that was more profitable like offering them at a lower price similar to the way they are offering up the iPhone 3GS for $49 now through AT&T.
