Hi,

So I have to use a work laptop for my job. It’s a Surface laptop 3. I’m also buying a new Mac Mini soon (when/if they upgrade it). So I want to use both machines with the Studio Display.

The surface only has USB-C output, but that’s fine.. I think. Honestly, if it only runs in 1440p mode that’s goed enough for me because lots of my old work stuff doesn’t have proper HDPI stuff anyway.

Has anybody here used a setup like this? Will the Mac Mini work with a USB-C based switch instead of Thunderbolt? I only plan to plug a keyboard an wired mouse into the display, that’s fine for USB-C right? The rest goes straight into the Mac Mini.

Any insight into why this will or won’t work properly would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

Hi.

Did you manage to find out if this works as in a very similar position right now with my work laptop and about to purchase the Apple Studio Display.

For anyone in a similar position to myself the Surface Laptop 3 works with the Apple Studio Display.
