Hi everyone:

I am a proud original Iphone owner (16g), yet I have one complaint that I was wondering if anyone else was facing. This morning I was supposed to be at my internship (I am in a clinical psychology masters program) at 7:45. Last night I set my alarm for 7:00 and quickly fell asleep. This morning I woke up at 9:00!!! Now why is this you might ask? Because of the dumb scroll bar on the alarm configuration. This is the second or third time this has happened and I accept full responsibility (I will be going to walmart and purchasing an alarm clock today), but I was wondering if anyone else has had their alarm set for pm when you where expecting am?

I've been using iPhone for alarm clock for over a year now. And I never had any problems. Just take extra second or two to make sure it is AM or PM. And it is a good idea to have a back up for important stuff. Set two alarms in the iPhone. One for the time you want, and one maybe 30min later. That's what I do.

Me neither - find the alarm easy to use and its worked perfectly for me since it came out.

just pay close attention next time, I been using the alarm on my gen 1 phone since I got it and never had a problem. Sometimes I hit the snooze button to much and end up late anyway:D

Ditto, my only concern is needing the dock as a stand. It has probably been the MOST reliable alarm clock I've ever had (and the easiest to set). I've had the count down timer to not go off before.

yup, you just need to be careful...a gentle touch is definitely enough to create this kind of problem. Also, set multiple alarms (I set 5-6, with progressively more annoying tones, for 15 minute intervals since I like to...keep sleeping? I start with "Harp" for a gentle wake and then end with something annoying like Pinball or Trill; in between, I use my own tones)

this goes for any alarm, not just the iphone. i am PARANOID about my alarm not going off and i literally check every detail ten times. am/pm, wake on or off, time set. its insane the amount of time i take to make sure its right

I have never had that problem on the iPhone but I have had that problem on regular alarms so be careful with the one you purchase.

Yeah even before iphone it always happen to all in any phone atleast once in his life.

Exactly. This problem has nothing to do with the scroll bar selection methond, but with a person's attention to detail. With any alarm you have to make sure that you select AM or PM (whether you directly choose AM/PM or whether you have to scroll the time around 12 hours to get to one or the other). If anything, the iPhone's method is more direct and understandable than most alarm clocks I've ever used.

You're in a master program, so come on... you don't have the ability to look at what you're setting?

My only (minor) complaint with the Alarm Clock is that when I upgraded to version 2.0, I lost my previous alarms. I had to create all my alarms again. (I use different times for different days and turn them on as needed.) When I upgraded to 2.0, I didn't lose anything else (that I can think of). I still have all my text messages. Hmm - I remember reading you lose your voicemails but I didn't have any to lose. My iPhone even remembered that I had the iPod set to repeat the one song over and over, even though it had to reimport all of my media when I updated. Funny what it remembered and what it didn't.

Last I check, science advancement has not been able to cure stupidity, and neither has iPhone.

*Sigh* I've done that. Not on my iPhone, but on a regular alarm. It's easier on the iPhone to remember because it says AM and PM and you can scroll to them rather than looking for the tiny dot signifying PM and then scrolling through 23 hours until you get back to the right time of day.

Sorry you missed your appointment, but I haven't had this happen to me. Been using mine since January without any problems.

Anyone who travels on business and has had to try and figure out how to set the alarm on a myriad of alarm clocks and then had a terrible night's sleep because you're paranoid that you've cocked it up and will be late, or has booked an alarm call and then had a terrible night's sleep because you're paranoid that they've cocked it up and you will be late, should love the iPhone alarm.

Setting the time on an iPhone has to be one of the easiest interfaces I've ever seen. AM/PM is so obvious, it's totally ridiculous to be complaining about it.

Ya, I used to wake up every hour of a night before anything important because I am afraid to have overslept. iPhone hasn't failed me once yet, so I am not concerned.

+1 to using 24 hour format. Really hard to screw that up.
I find flipping the phone into silent mode before bed works wonders on 7am accidental calls. Alarms still go off to boot!
