Really? These computers struggle with flash video HD? That's pathetic.... I'm contemplating not purchasing now... flash sucks, but jesus, in 2010 no computer should "stutter"....

Is this a computer issue or is this a software issue? If it's software and can be fixed I'll live with it.

I'm about to buy a 13" MBA 1.86GHz 4GB ram... there better be NO stuttering of ANY kind.

Strange. The first video stutters slightly on my unibody MacBook with 2.0GHz processor in 1080p. I agree with everyone else. Use the YouTube5 extension or ClicktoFlash.

Actually, the first video seems to stutter slightly even with YouTube5 enabled. Maybe it's the video? I've watched other 1080p flash videos that play smooth as silk on my MacBook and even on MBAs at the Apple Store.

This may be good news for the future: http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/01/adobe-flash-player-10-2-beta-arrives-expands-hardware-accelerat/. Although, I highly doubt we'll see only "just over 0 percent CPU utilization when playing back 1080p clips." We shall see.

A 13" MBA with the 2.13 C2D processor can play 1080p flash smoothly with no real help. Even on 10.1 (which dumps the entire work on just the CPU)

However, if you install the Flash 10.2 beta, all current MBAs should be able to smoothly play 1080p Flash content off of Youtube. Give it a try. Don't forget to download the flash uninstaller (also available on the same page they distribute the 10.2 beta on) because you'll need to run that first before installing 10.2. It's also useful if you're paranoid about running a beta and want to go back to 10.1. But then the Flash video player (lack of HW acceleration support) would come back going back to 10.1.

Flash 10.2 beta did improve a lot on CPU usage. With 10.1, playing Avatar 1080p trailer kicked CPU pretty hard at about 60%. With 10.2, CPU usage lowered to around 20%. Nice!

Don't use Chrome. It has built-in flash plugin.

I have an 11" 1.6ghz 4GB MBA and both those videos run smooth. It may be your connection or you have too many apps running. At the Apple store I tested 1080 video and only the maxed out MBAs would run it smoothly.

Tried the videos again with the new flash 10.2 beta ... amazing how the CPU usage is down to 30% or so. Mighty impressive. Fans never revved up, the temperature never really increased. Smooth playback.

Now if only Silverlight can use the GPU (for Netflix).
