Thank you for this!

I've tried to install Windows 10 build 21354 - I first converted the vhdx file to qcow2 and I managed to install the NIC driver and access the internet, but after installing the video driver and switching to virtio-gpu, I cannot run display settings within the VM.
The window with a gear appears and then it closes itself.

Any idea? Thank you.

Please how can I convert this and access internet successfully. Thank you.

Parallels has to emulate the TPM first. :(

I have few VM's on Windows that I already prepared for Win11 and I also prepared one physical machine for it. :)

Insider preview of Windows 11 is available for download. Some reporting that it installs without TPM, but i cannot confirm this since i have a TPM in my Surface Pro X.

I already have it installed in a VM and a x64 laptop. Both have TPM's (or in the VM, a virtualized TPM)

In fact, I'm typing this on Edge inside a W11 VM :)

I like it, though that centered start menu icon is not exactly in muscle memory yet. (by a long shot) The way the start menu works is is pretty different too...

Microsoft automatically upgraded anyone running Windows 10 ARM developer Edition to Window 11 preview, so I now have W11 ARM64 running on my MacBook Air M1 in Parallels.

It's a little slower than Windows 10, but usable.

Hello. How did you install it? After i try to run the second chunk of code into the terminal it gives me an error:

“qemu-system-aarch64” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.

Please help me

Have you read and followed the instructions?
use terminal where you downloaded it or you need to go to System Settings/Security and allow all small apps
In Terminal as sudo:
xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine ~/Downloads/qemu-m1

Very helpful thread. I ended up using UTM and installed the win 10 arm64 21354 build converted to qcow and it booted up. I tried spice guest tools drivers and couldnt get internet to work, then i tried the virtio drivers (without uninstalling the former) and internet still didnt work, then i restarted the VM a couple times and randomly I was able to browse websites, but it is inconsistent, it will drop out every so often and show a "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG" error in edge. It is very strange how it drops in and out. I'm bewildered how internet access can work for a few moments then suddenly stop. All the while in my host machine internet access is uninterrupted, so it isn't a service problem.

Any tips?

edit **** seemed to have fixed it. just entered manual dns settings rathert han automatic. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

12. Choose the virtual CD Drive (D:) virtio-win > OK > Next > Allow.
can't find virtio-win

I am having trouble getting wifi to work, I think partially because windows 10 insider isn't available anywhere as a VDHX file.

Hi,

I'm trying to install Windows on a Mac, Apple M1, OS big Sur. I'm stuck in step 6 because Apple don't want to start the virtual machine. I went on the security preferences to allow downloaded apps to be launched. But I had an error message asking me to contact the developer.

Could anyone help me?
Or do you know another way to install Windows without paying for a virtual soft.

Thanks in advance.

I think most of us bought Parallels Fusion to get a working product. I have done so myself, works fine for my use case.

You can try UTM instead of trying to use the open source QEMU stuff. It is also free. I haven't tried it recently but early in the M1 cycle it was pretty unstable but I hope they've worked out the kinks now.

Edit: Nope, sorry. It is still a mess trying to download a windows on ARM iso.

Windows. Linux. Meet Apple Silicon.

UTM employs Apple's Hypervisor virtualization framework to run ARM64 operating systems on Apple Silicon at near native speeds. On Intel Macs, x86/x64 operating system can be virtualized.

In addition, lower performance emulation is available to run x86/x64 on Apple Silicon as well as ARM64 on Intel.

For developers and enthusiasts, there are dozens of other emulated processors as well including: ARM32, MIPS, PPC, and RISC-V. Your Mac can now truly run anything.

Wow.. This is nice. - Any interesting usage/ reviews around this?

Just wondering, is there any current way to download the Windows 10 ARM64 .vhdx file specified? Clicking the link brings you to a page for downloading Windows 11, which does not support the drivers for wifi, so I also can't get past the Internet setup part.
