If I recall, someone made a labyrinth-style game which utilized the motion sensor, so I'm guessing that it's sensitive enough for something like this. I'd say that this is just something cool that someone tried to code, but not really useful - a proof of concept type thing.

kind of. what i think you're thinking of was two separate things. the game and then the app that enabled the use of SMS. i'm at work right now so i don't have my powerbook on me, but i have the game back home. it's ____ball... can't remember the exact title.

here's another game that uses it though: http://www.balooba.se/baloobasoftware/texts/bubblegym.htm

Does the screenswitch.py thing only work on MacBook's? I cannot get it to work on my PowerBook. I tap the screen and hear an error sound.

Also, is there a way to get that functionality (the moving windows or whatever you want to call it) without the screen tapping program?

iAlertU is an awesome app that I can wait to use on my MBP but more so check out this app.

I didn't see anyone name it in this thread so I decided to show you its beauty.
The alarm system is not as cool as iAlertU since iAlertU sounds like a old car alarm and what not, but check out Undercover.

Undercover is the real beauty of this software

As mentioned earlier, there's Desktop Manager.
And if I were you, I wouldn't hit your PBs screen too hard . . .

DesktopManager is much more straight forward in terms of installing and running so I'll use that for now. SmackBook looks awesome, but I'll wait for an established installer and instructions first.

Way down at post 112 in that thread, there's a simple installer ("SmackBook 0.2a" or something like that). It's almost useless, but cooler than words and works exactly as advertised.

Personaly, I'm just glad to see some SMS toys that work on my MBP. The AMS2HID app on Singh's site is awesome, because it basically allows you to do this in any app. Only problem for me is that on my MPB, it has the Z axis and Y axis confused, so I can only go side to side--back and forth tilting doesn't work (it doesn't provide any option for controlling based on the Z axis). Looking forward to a beefier version of that app so I can have some real fun.

Link?

I installed it on my iBook but couldn't get it working. I used the Smackbook download and placed everything in one folder. Then opened Desktop Manager, and then went into terminal and typed "perl smack.pl" and nothing is happening.

What gives? I wasn't sure if I needed the Desktop Manager.patch to be placed somewhere, I thought it just had to be in the same directory as the smack.pl. Little Help?

dont forget about MultiAlarm the only one that works with all the sensors, also Undercover is a great piece of software. Im actually trying to design a system like Undercover but it will work on all platforms

That one's awesome because of the alarm is the Lost sound.

iMacs do not have the Sudden Motion Sensor. Unless you meant iBook?
Doesn't look like it, looking at his sig.
So do all notebooks have sensors then?
I'm getting condfused with this one!!

Watch they guy's other hand in the video. It looks to me like he's pushing the infinite loop or the option key. I used to play a trick on my friends like that with an emac, I would make them think that I opened the cd drive by pressing the two speaker grilles, when I was actually hitting the eject button with the heel of my hand.

It was a joke. ;)

I was trying to point out that there will be people (like in my example) who have a computer not quipped with a SMS and will start whacking away but nothing will happen. ...guess I wasn't very clear though.

Yep, i was at an Apple store the other day and someone had installed the MacSaber program on one of the Black Macbooks. Its really quite nifty, swing your laptop around and it makes swooshing sounds from starwars. Yes, macbooks do have an SMS.
