CS4 applications — at least the design series — will open in High Sierra, but the initialization time for, say, Photoshop CS4, is slower than the same when launching Photoshop CS6 — enough so at times that I launch CS6 even though I move fastest in CS4. (By contrast, Photoshop CS4 opens quickly in either of Snow Leopard or Leopard.)

I haven’t attempted running Premiere CS4 or any of the A/V suites side by side (that which exist in both CS4 and CS6, at least, such as OnLocation or After Effects), so I can’t really speak to those.

Try opening InDesign CS4 on High Sierra and you will see what I mean. Perhaps it may just be InDesign then.

Oh snap, you’re right.

I swear I don’t remember that being the case, but I’m also guilty of virtually never doing any page layout work on this iMac (and, at that, virtually all of my stuff is still — still — done in Quark because I’m no longer doing stuff for clients). I’m one of those “OK I’ll do it in InDesign if I absolutely must” folks because I’ve been lightning-fast in Quark environment for decades — which of course is, as you know, one of those quirks about the oddity of its steep learning curve but, once mastered, becomes as effortless as breathing.)

Anyway, ID4 isn’t happening on High Sierra… today I (re-)learnt!

The odd thing is that you can open and save docs. You just can't see what you're doing. :D

I use CS4 on my work Mac to get newer ID files saved as CS4. I can then use Markztools in QXP 8 to get a QXP document (which I can then open in QXP 2020).

I just never do anything inside CS4 except "Save As…".

I hear you about experience. I learned InDesign starting in 2011 because I realized I was never going to learn it unless I was paid for it. So I converted to ID at work…and got paid to learn it. ;)

But once the business was sold it was apparently the fact that I had QXP on my resumé when no other applicant had it that got me hired in my current job. The bizarre thing is that at the time we were on QXP 2016 - so I ended up skipping QXP 9, 10, and 2015. Funny thing is that I was able to just pick up right where I left off. Just new features.

I do use ID for personal though. I prefer it now.

Revisting this old thread for another question. I downloaded OBS for streaming and the app appears to work while doing a test stream via twitch. I was able to drop pictures in app and it appeared on live stream.

Searching for a capture card thats compatible with the 2,1. Google search came up with a product black magic but reviews was not favorable. I've seen some other stuff that looks like an adapter that connects HDMI from source (gaming console) then other end connects to mac pro. I want to see if its possible to stream with this machine.
